      Money well spent

I was skeptical about claims of CD transports being better than CD players or universal players, because overall a bit is a bit is a bit, right? At this time I am running a Cambridge Audio dacmagic to downstream components that are unforgivingly revealing at times. The Audiolab replaced a Denon 1920 universal player, still functioning well after 14 years, and has a well regarded transport. The improvement claims are true. This is not snake oil. Even with a 9 year old Cambridge dac, the improvement across the board was like going from a good 400 dollar cd player to maybe what I would expect from say 5 times that price. Listening to CDs I've had for years revealed details I've never heard, as well as more organic tones from Acoustic instruments.I would have been more than happy if ...

    • I shouldn't have put it off

The whole DAC/CD Transport thing was new to me as I reconstituted my dream stereo from what I had been able to hang on to for 40 years and some lucky estate finds. But I was left with 25 years of music downloads on my computer and no good way to run them through the system. I finally settled on an original Schiit Gungnir DAC and was blown away by how good digital music could sound. That left my extensive CD collection hung out. My 80s STOA CD player bit the dust. My replacement had no digital out and was clearly anemic next to the Gungnir, so I plugged in another that I had and it wouldn't work either. I wasted another month or two looking for a low cost solution after splurging on the DAC. Finally I got frustrated staring at shelves of CDs with their potential locked, for lack of a good ...

    • Audiobook 6000CDT

The reviews suggesting the Audiolab 6000CDT is capable of reproducing music as well as or better than anything within a few times its price range are absolutely correct. The quality of the sound will be dependent on the DAC Rather than on this transport. It is that good. I have not used it enough yet, to find any faults. It sets up and operates easily, it’s stable and sounds great.

    • Excellent Product

This is my first cd transport. I have many cds and have worn out a couple of players. Given the development of dac technology, I figured I would try a transport and dac combo. Using a very reasonably priced dac, I feel this transport sounds very good on cds of differing vintage. I feel this option really gives a lot of bang for the buck plus the ability to upgrade in the dac department. I have used slot loaders before and feel they are durable. The audiolab does what it says and is appears to be well made.

    • Excellent and Economical CD Transport

The 6000CDT definitely has an improved quality of sound compared to a less costly CD player that would have a DAC. Withouth there being a DAC and the build quality of the 6000CDT most likely account for the improvement in sound although at a higher cost. I am satified with it and would recommend the 6000CDT to anyone wanting to upgrade.. There was only a small oddity when I unpacked it. The manual stated there would be two AAA batteries included in the carton. They were not included.
