Violence and violent criminals policy

Listings that promote or glorify violence or violent acts, or are associated with individuals who are notorious for committing violent acts, are not allowed.

This policy was updated on 21 March 2025 to clarify that items related to fighting animals may not be listed on eBay. The wording was further updated for clarity on 1 April 2025. For more information about this change, please see our announcement board.

What is the policy?

eBay doesn't allow items that do the following:

  • Encourage, promote or glorify violence toward humans or animals
  • Facilitate animal fighting
  • Relate to violent criminals, their acts, or crime scenes from within the past 100 years
  • Show, contain, or claim to contain real acts of violence, rape, execution, torture, or real crime scenes, morgues, dead bodies, or body parts

Activity on eBay is required to follow this policy, the eBay User Agreement and all applicable laws, as well as respect the rights of third parties. If it doesn't, eBay may take action consistent with applicable laws and the eBay User Agreement, and may even be legally required to do so. Such actions may include, as an example only: Removing the listing or other content, issuing a warning, restricting activity or account suspension.
