    Netgear EX7000 Wireless router project with DD-WRT

    This was ok as a range extender in its day. I bought 2 and setup as a router using DD-WRT (Kong's build). This was a pretty good solution to segment my network and apply parental controls. I managed to brick 1 when restoring the stock firmware because I did not properly reset to the default settings first. It was an interesting project at the time but there are much better options now.

    Nighthawk R8000

    After one of my Airport extremes died we’ve been running the house on one node. With certain dead spots I was looking at replacements / mesh network options. Our house is fairly large so I figured I’d probably need. 2 or 3 Velops or Orbi’s... reading some of the reviews on these (and seeing the price!) put me off! Landed on the Netgear nighthawk range and the R8000 gambling it would cover my house without the need for another extender. I was correct. Easy to setup and secure with the nighthawk app and the extra 5G band means I can shit off the kids wifi without effecting the parents 🤗.

    Super-Fast Gaming Router

    This is a great router. Its blistering speed, its good looks and the technology inside make for a great addition to your network. It has shaved at least 10ms off the average latency due to the onboard processor and RAM. You cannot buy better.

    The best Range Extender on the market

    We like the performance of R8000

    The new R8000 improve our internet faster and more reliable than the old model R7000 that we used for five years. We find it not difficult to install the new router. We have double brick walls that a free router from TPG could not go through the walls and cover the house well.
