It connects to the home WiFi so I can turn it down when my son try’s to wake the dead by turning up the volume. Typically Apple, typically great sound and quality.

Needed to be reset, plug in wait 5 seconds, then keep touching the centre of the top panel until Siri states it will reset and wait for the three beeps. Then required an IOS device running IOS 17 to persuade the HomePod to update to the latest firmware (wouldn't work with an iPhone running IOS 18). Excellent product and obviously YMMV when it comes to setting it up!
