    Good movie, middling video quality

    Already had this on DVD, but was a little disappointed with the video quality...lacked that you-are-there sensation that enhances enjoyment/immersion. It seemed that Blu-Ray should provide that increase in detail and air. Unfortunately there is improvement, but not anything like a transformation. We must consider that it came out in 1999, some 25 years ago, and might not have been shot on state of the art cameras. Story is compelling, sets are great, good acting, good music. But the Blu-Ray is only marginally better visually than the DVD.

    Dark ominous thriller with twists and turns

    Johnny Depp is featured here in one of his better roles as searching for a specific grimoire. This is an ancient book of black magic to summon up the Dark One (the Devil, Lucifer, Satan, Mephisto, Beelzebub or Baphomet as are his numerous names). Definitely one of Roman Polanski's better movies and a must-see. You won't be disappointed if you like this genre!
