    Not what I had hoped for

    I love music from this era and I generally love the arrangements Vince Giordano puts together. The actual music used in the TV series is really great, but that is not entirely what is on the CD. Several songs have been re-recorded with contemporary vocalists who don't quite get the spirit and context of the songs in their time. For example, in the show, they play Sophie Tucker singing "Some of these Days" from a 1912 cylinder she recorded. On the CD, a contemporary recording that just doesn't cut it. The other major problem I have with the CD is that, on playback, the sound is significantly distorted. Perhaps it is the DVD player I use to listen to CDs, but I don't have this with other recordings I play.
