As described, USPS held it at PO for 3 weeks but I just noticed and got them. Not sellers fault. Packed well, would recommend A++

    Exactly what I wanted, but...

This was exactly what I wanted and performed as advertised. I had to alter the socket a bit, since it was replacing a Core2 Quad processor. But then Windows 10 happened. It is not compatible with this processor, due to a specific instruction set that the manufacturer did not include with the chip. 64-bit Win 10 looks for this upon installation, and if it does not find it, the installer cannot run. I put the old processor in and installed Win10 with no problems, then swapped processors again and it ran well, but the first time Win10 goes to update (which it constantly does), it hangs again. I can't be popping the chip in and out every day! Unfortunately, it's not listed as being able to replace a Core2Duo, or I'd put it in another of my spare workstations and get Ubuntu humming a little ...

Need two CPUs not just one what's the point

no I haven't tried it yet because I ordered two of them to go of my server motherboard and one of them had a crack in it so I cannot use one without the other and I have been sending pics to the supplier to either replace or send it back still no reply other than he wanted me to try it in my computer motherboard and I told him I was reluctant to because it would burn up my motherboard

  • This CPU still holds its own!

Not much to say here: one of the greatest and most expensive CPUs of its time has become great value today. Performance is pretty much comparable to a modern Ryzen 5 six core or Core i5 six core. On the down side, power consumption is pretty much double that of modern CPUs, so you will definitely need good cooling and power supply with this and since we're at that,.. when I was putting together this build I found out LGA 2011 coolers are pretty expensive, like $40-50-expensive, even for the simple OEM ones, so factor that in the cost, or at least make sure to find a cheap one first. Overall the value of this CPU is great when coupled with cheap ECC RAM and Chinese no-name boards or you have a 2011 board hanging around. This kind of builds might be tricky though, and upgrading will be ...

  • Xeon awesomeness

This CPU breathed new life into an old Compaq dual-core Pentium system. After modding the motherboard and a modified BIOS, I was able to install and boot with the new chip and do a solid install of Windows 10 on a system that shipped with Windows Vista. Going from 2 cores @ 1.86 GHz to 4 cores @ 3 GHz is like going from night to day. HD videos that were choppy and pixelated before are very much playable now. "Xeon inside" is the new sticker that is on the box now. This was a great investment.

  • Quad-core, works nicely in my lga 775 motherboard. Faster than the lga 775 q series

Even though it is a LGA 771 CPU it will work with some LGA 775 motherboards, Super cheap and powerful upgrade from any dual core E series. Out performs them by a good margin. I was surprised by the Cinebench score! It runs nice and cool with the Intel stock cooler. Performs a lot faster than any q series. I haven't tried overclocking the FSB or anything else that would make it perform faster. It currently runs at stock speeds.
