Synopsis
Hemingway's Classic Portrait Of The Pageantry Of Bullfighting. Still considered one of the best books ever written about bullfighting,Death in the Afternoonreflects Hemingway's belief that bullfighting was more than mere sport. Here he describes and explains the technical aspects of this dangerous ritual, and "the emotional and spiritual intensity and pure classic beauty that can be produced by a man, an animal, and a piece of scarlet serge draped on a stick." Seen through his eyes, bullfighting becomes an art, a richly choreographed ballet, with performers who range from awkward amateurs to masters of great grace and cunning.A fascinating look at the history and grandeur of bullfighting,Death in the Afternoonis also a deeper contemplation on the nature of cowardice and bravery, sport and tragedy, and is enlivened throughout by Hemingway's pungent commentary on life and literature., Hemingway's Classic Portrait Of The Pageantry Of Bullfighting. - o***y (289)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseI'm happy with the seller, but I'd like to suggest better packaging for future customers. The book took some dings in transit. Thick books probably don't belong in bubble mailers, or at a minimum, they need more wrapping for protection. The book is fine for my needs and arrived as described aside from postal-incurred dings. I'd buy from this seller again. There was damage to the front board underneath the jacket; I'm hopeful you didn't know about this before selling it.Follow-up from: o***y- Feedback followed up by buyer.- Feedback followed up by buyer. This seller is probably one of THE BEST sellers on eBay. You should buy from their store. A really stand-up quality person to deal with here.Wall of Storms by Ken Liu (2016, Hardcover) (#196861786280)
