More buttons than god, excellent layout for my huge hand. Absolutely recommended, but beware the software and ring finger rest.
Been using it for a few weeks now. I'm a huge fan of mice with many buttons, and this one suits my (huge) hand perfectly. I bought it to replace my Razer Naga Hex and it's ergonomically identical, and the X15's thumb buttons are very intuitive to migrate to from the Naga Hex. Buttons and button layout is super-comfy. Excellently designed layout. I'm using everything except buttons 3, 6, and the ring finger button. Front thumb buttons (10, 9, 5, 1, 2) have very distinct feels to them, so they're incredibly easy to use in the middle of gaming. (A problem I have with other MMO mice is that the buttons feel so "regular", so it's so hard to tell what you're pressing when you're also trying to concentrate on what's happening on-screen.) I have trouble distinguishing them with the joint of my thumb, so I'm considering mapping buttons 6, 7, and 8 to the same thing in-game so that all I'd do is roll my thumb around. My suggestion for EVGA is to give the thumb buttons more of a bump, and to give them more distinct feels. I believe they're very intuitive in their placement and have a tonne of possible utility, they just need to be easier to feel/press. There's a physical disable switch for the ring finger button, which I'm using. It locks it in-place, so it just functions as a finger rest. In that configuration, the button mostly feels solid to rest on, but it is very very slightly flimsy. I don't mind it, but I'd be weary of that if you're someone who gets really annoyed by tiny tactile imperfections. My only real problem is the software. I don't mind the dated look, and in fact, I actually like it. The big issue for me is the limitation to only 5 profiles, and clicking "Default" will overwrite and save your settings. "Default" is too easy to push! Terrible. Also, I haven't been playing too many different games lately, but the profile limitation might bite me in the ass later. Also, as a minor complaint, the button configuration UI is useable and gets the job done in the end (which is fine for a set-up-once use-forever deal), but it's obviously so cheaply designed and can be awkward to interact with. E.g. with dropdown-boxes, the "row" isn't clickable. You have to click on the text in that row in order to select something. Also, you shouldn't be able to click on the "folder row". It doesn't seem to do anything, and I have no idea what it might do. I highly recommend backing up your profiles with screenshots. I'm not fussy about DPI/sensor performance, but I haven't had any problems with it. Overall, bloody excellent mouse. I hope this particular layout takes off in popularity and improves. For anyone looking for an MMO mouse, this is my top recommendation by a long-shot. You just need to be ok with the software and a very slightly rattly "ring finger rest".
