Recorded in 1986, this concert from acclaimed soprano Renata Scotto was shot in Quebec. Scotto shot to fame in the early 1950s after taking on the role of Violetta in LA TRAVIATA, and winning over critics and fans with her superlative performance. Raffi Armenian conducts the Symphonique de Quebec throughout, providing a suitable backing for the talented soprano to work from. Also included is a 1984 performance, with Scotto demonstrating her versatility by working her way through works by Verdi, Liszt, Handel, and other prominent names from the classical music world.

    Beautiful performance, not high quality recording

    Scotto looks and sounds great. Vocally she's in good shape, and it's an entertaining program. Unfortunately compared to modern recordings, this comes across as, at best, a VHS transfer in terms of the quality of the video and the sound. Nevertheless a worthwhile investment for Renata Scotto fans. One nice thing I'll say about the production is that the frequent close-ups give you some nice insight into the depths of her wonderful acting as well as singing ability.
