Built upon the trustworthy frame of Intel Core microarchitecture, the Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 offers an array of technologies. Its features work together to maintain the smooth operation of the computing environment. Built for use with LGA775/T socket motherboards, this 45-nanometer dual-core runs at a speed of 3.16 GHz. It also utilizes a 6 MB L2 cache. Because a CPU of this type has a high-frequency multiplier (9.5x), the Duo E8500 is overclocked to 4 GHz. This is accomplished by combining it with a sufficient cooling system and changing certain settings in the BIOS. The front-side bus (FSB) clocks in at 1333MHz, allowing for rapid exchanges of data between the dual core and the memory controller hub. The instruction set of the chip is 64-bit and capable of virtualization when multiple users are employing the same system. Desktop users use DDR2 or DDR3 versions of 4GB RAM modules in conjunction with the hardware. With such impressive specifications, this Core optimizes the efficiency of the read and write operations of the hard drive.The Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 sports several impressive technologies that help make the user’s workflow more efficient, such as Intel’s Advanced Smart Caching. This feature allows the processor to take advantage of dynamic allocation of the L2 cache with a peak transfer rate of 96 GB/s. The Wide Dynamic Execution enables it to execute more instructions within each clock cycle.     Best Dual Core upgrade for a G41 machine

    I used this to upgrade a 10 year old e-Machines Celeron PC which was performing awful. According to benchmarks this cpu scored about 40% better than the Celeron E3400 that it was running. The computer is used for regular office tasks as well as web browsing. Adding this CPU and increasing the RAM to 4GB made an abismal difference, it runs extremely smooth now. A really inexpensive way to give new life to a system. 100% Recommended, however if your motherboard supports core 2 quads then you should definitely go for one of those instead, they perform much better than this and the cost is not much higher, but keep in mind those need higher voltages and better cooling.

    This cpu is in good working condition. Core duo, 2 core processor. Included are L1 L2 L3 cache. L3 cache is about 6mb which is very good. CPU speed is good, not slow, not fast, about 3ghz. EZ install, so far so good. Get a mobo that can take up to 8gb, ur set to go. Socket 775 mobo only for this processor. bus speed 1333mhz The description above is exact. Core 2 Duo E8500 Socket 775 CPU Processor 3.16GHz/6M/1333 Try it out, it's worth the chnage from a solo core to a duo. You will see the difference. Its an old cpu, but it can compete with the new ones. Of course the higher the core the better overall performance.
