This is such a great BBC series. I wished there were more epiosodes. I watched this on public tv in late 70 's. The acting is superb

Great dry British humor. The actors are so great, and the antics and such are so funny. It's an all around delightful and entertaining series. I bought 2 sets on ebay, so I can gift one to a fan of Fawlty Towers. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes John Cleese and dry humor. They don't make comedy like this anymore in my opinion

  • Dated, Not PC - but Really, Really Fun and Entertaining

Dated humor, and British humor at that, but still fantastically funny. Would not pass the PC test these days - but, you know, still really, really funny. Basil the Rat is my favorite - but many of the episodes get close as well.

  • Fast paced over-the-top frantic comedy. Modernized slapstick done superbly well.

A delightful complete collection of the Fawlty Towers episodes which also includes special features; interviews, directors' comments and more. Superb comedy at its English best with top performances by a great collection of most engaging characters. Fast paced enjoyment in each episode.

  • Great British Situation Comedy!

This show was was a post Monty Python effort co-written and starring John Cleese and Connie Booth (John's wife at the time). Some say that it was "Americanized" to become the Newhart Show as the plot situations are similar to each other, but that is where the similarities end.. (Both shows revolve around an hotel/boarding house run by mostly dysfunctional staff - and both rely upon situational tension and release for the humor they generate...Add to this the recurring themes and character faults and you can see what I mean). In my opinion, this show was very underrated at the time, and is still hilarious. The ridiculous situations grab the unsuspecting viewer into the tension of the moment, and we cannot wait to escape through the laughter we know is coming..

  • A timeless British Classic for all ages.

Fawlty Towers was a well conceived idea with a host of brilliant cast members taking part in a historical project. Timing and delivery of what takes place in these 12 episodes is meticulous and flawless. With on 12 episodes to appreciate, one could have only hoped for 12 more, or a movie release of this famed production. And aside from the "Honeymooners-Classic 39" episodes of the mid-50's..., Fawlty Towers rivals the laugh-athon well all need in our lives.
