The Dunlop Pork Loin Soft Clip Injection overdrive guitar effects pedal is a unique dirt box. It is from Way Huge Electronics and has a powerful but manageable array of tone-shaping posts. What makes this pedal special is the blend function. The function acts as a wet/dry mixer to let you further customize your sound. No matter how much thick overdrive you dial up, your clean signal can still come through and add definition to your sound. This makes it great for crafting massive old-school guitar sounds that sing and crunch without losing clarity when chording. Of course, you can also turn the knob to full "wet." You’ll get nothing but a hellacious classic rock overdrive that would make Jimmy Page or Joe Bonamassa proud. The purple aluminum housing is the super cool icing on the cake.The Way Huge Pork Loin incorporates a modern soft-clipping overdrive pathway with a vintage British preamp pathway. The results are distinctively clean and crunchy tones. The volume knob is responsive and the tone post is passive. This means that when it is turned fully clockwise, it keeps the tone from your guitar. Turning it counterclockwise rolls back the high frequencies and removes it from the circuit. The Curve function lets you ease out unwanted corner frequencies for added fine-tuning.This Pork pedal also has three internal settings which let you control filter, drive, and presence features. The filter adjusts the tonal spectrum of the clean preamp. The drive mix lets you add more distorted drive or remove it from the signal altogether. Finally, presence lets you tweak the high end added by the soft clipping overdrive. When changing these controls, be sure to note or mark the stock settings in case you want to change it back.The Way Huge Pork Loin has an input and output jack that take standard quarter-inch instrument cables. It works well with a variety of different instruments, including guitars and bass, and with a variety of different amps as well. The pedal can be powered by a 9 V battery or with the correct AC adapter. Dunlop recommends using the ECB-03, DC Brick, or CAE MC-403 AC adapters. The Pork Loin has an input impedance of 1 mega-ohm. It has an output impedance of fewer than 25 kilo-ohms and a current draw of 16.5 milli-amps. Its dimensions are 4.78 by 3.75 by 1.75 inches, and it weighs 14 ounces. The pedal is also true bypass, meaning there is no change in the sound when it’s turned off. These Pork Loin pedals are extremely versatile. They can be used for blues, rock, metal, punk, or indie music genres. They perform well with any kind of amp or instrument with strings. They can be used in combination with many other kinds of pedals too. They can produce fat distortion effects or cleaner, rolling vintage tones for brilliant high melodies.
