The TL-WN722N from TP-Link is a wireless adapter that’s small enough to fit in your pocket. It can also fit in the palm of your hand. This wireless USB solution weighs just 1.6 ounces. It measures only 3.7 inches by 1.0 inches by 0.4 inches, or 93.5 millimeters by 26 millimeters by 11 millimeters. Power isn’t sacrificed for portability, and these adapters work equally well as fixed-position solutions for the home or office. The interface used is Universal Serial Bus 2.0. This interface is backward-compatible and forward-compatible. That means the product will work just fine with USB 3.0. It will also work with USB 1.0/1.1.This device supports the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of various operating systems. These are Windows XP, Vista, 2000, Windows 7, and Windows 8/8.1. In most cases, your OS will auto-detect the adapter and install any necessary driver or other software. If a firmware update is required, this can be completed online while using this product for the network connection. Thanks to a WPS button, establishing a wireless connection is often as simple as a single button press. TP-Link also provides advanced wireless setup options for users who prefer granular control.The antenna included with this TP-Link adapter is the detachable type. That allows you to upgrade if you require more range or remove it if you don’t need it. The antenna is omnidirectional and has a high gain of 4dBi. The antenna rotates at its base 360 degrees. You can position it parallel or perpendicular to the wireless adapter. A change of a small degree can result in a significant performance difference depending on the environment.Based on IEEE 802.11n technology, the TL-WN722N connects via B/G/N Wi-Fi. It can achieve a networking throughput of up to 150 Mbps in N mode. A 150 Mbps connection is often strong enough for video streaming and large file transfers. In G and B mode, it can achieve up to 54 and 11 Mbps, respectively. Even these lower speeds are fast enough for most activities on the Internet or a LAN. It operates at a 2.4000-2.4835 GHz, which is the standard networking frequency.Wireless modes supported are the ad-hoc and infrastructure modes. Certifications include CE, FCC, and RoHS. Supported security mechanisms include 64-bit and 128-bit WEP and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. Advanced security options are present, but this TP-Link adapter provides a hands-off experience for the average user. Pushing the WPS button not only establishes and configures access but encrypts it so that your transmissions are protected.In retail packaging, the TP-Link TL-WN722N wireless USB adapter is accompanied by accessories.     USB 2.4Ghz WiFi adapter that really works on Linux

    I was having WiFi dropout on my Lenovo Thinkpad edge E545 via internal WiFi module(Can't upgrade it as Lenovo does Whitelisting in the Bios) on Manjaro Mate Linux, so I tried a few other adapters that claimed they work on Linux, but in the end did not even after compiling the drivers from the AUR, with one even screwing up my install but after a clean install of Manjaro MATE 21.0.3(saw the adapter right away in the live USB 👍)I attached this to the back of my screen with some double sided tape, plugged in a USB 3.0 extension cable to a USB 3.0 port, and I'm getting on average between 30Mbps - 50Mbps on the far edge of my house connected to the main router. 👍👍

    Not good for using in monitor mode to try to do packet capturing

    This version does not support monitor mode, so it's not a good choice for using with Wireshark in doing penetration testing or ethical white-hat hacking. If you're just using it for WiFi activity, it gets good reception and works well in both Windows 7 and Kali Linux.

    "Small, fast, and wide compatability"

    This works great. Windows (even 7) can run this with it's own drivers. A driver disk is included for more functionality. It runs plug-n-play on Linux Mint and Kali Linux with no setup. It's got good speed and connectivity. I can carry this with me to anyone's computer (I don't know about Macs) and have WiFi internet with my phone's hotspot. It's a great device to have in my toolbox.

    Brand New Affordable and Works like a Charm

    I bought this product for Pen testing (Cyber Term) this is checking security of your wireless. It came with software and I downloaded the wireless tool for windows on the manufacturer web page. After the drivers installed plug it in and bam it’s good to go. Kali users: I was able to add it to the vm with ease. The guides online made setup on kali extremely easy and promiscuous mode was too easy and worked well. This is in a student environment and I do not condone other uses but if you wanted to this should work great. It also came with a usb extension maybe 6 feet or so. This could be used to place in a backpack or something while using pc in open as to not look to suspicious. I would recommend this product for daily use as well fast speeds and a good option for users on laptops stuck ...

    Good WiFi adapter

    This WiFi adapter receives a better signal than the WiFi nic on my motherboard. The reception is similar to the D Link pcie WiFi adapter I had in the past. So based on my experience it’s a solid WiFi adapter and pretty comparable to other name brand adapters. The price is excellent.
