  • Good Deal on a Used Camera Body

Camera was used and in really good shape. Bought it with a broken rear glass for display. Was able to buy a repair part and had glass replaced in about 10 minutes for about $10...like new. Was estimated to have 20,000 shutter clicks but actually only had little over 11,000. So far, it has been a great deal for an older camera. Bought it below trending price. It is my backup camera and my only full frame camera. The battery grip was a generic one and I have replaced it with a Canon unit to ensure full functionality.

  • Best value full frame camera, especially for video

If you're looking to get into full frame photography on a budget, this is definitely the camera. Video looks great and very sturdy build. Only downsides are the slow burst fire rates and outdated (but still perfectly fine) noise performance. When this came out, it was a killer camera which professional photographers all over the world used, and you can get one nowadays for less than Canon's cheapest plastic body APS-C DSLR. Best photography purchase I've made.

  • A Reasonably Priced Entry to Full Frame DSLRs

Build quality is excellent, Canon ergonomics are best of DSLRs (for me), the menu is relatively easy to use/understand, Mark II has many of the features of the newer 5Ds, accessories for the camera are numerous & many are quite affordable. The only con I have is DSLRs in general. The learning curve is quite high, good quality lenses for it are expensive, and many of the parts (screen, memory, interface, charging, apps) are not as good as smartphones. My advice to anyone new to photography is purchase a good used consumer/pro body like the 5D and invest most of your money into quality lenses and traveling.

  • Canon 5D Mark II

I love the camera, finally a full frame camera in my arsenal. its a bit getting use to I can't figure because of the age of the camera with it being created before the advancement in light metering or the large censor size I am finding that it is a very different leap from APSC. the Camera it self is in perfect condition. I can't believe it had such a high shutter count because to me it looks like it barely left the box. Haven't really gotten to test it out yet, but I love it and I do not find it too heavy though that may change when traveling happens again. the only sign that i got that it was used was that the battery grip had a dent on it. otherwise its 5 stars for me.

  • Canon 5D Mark II, still worth buying?

Great camera for the money. It may be a 12 year old camera but as far as picture quality it still outperforms any camera bought new on the market in that price range. Yes a camera that old does lack the technological bells and whistles of a modern camera. Firstly the autofocus is a bit slow so action shots like sports and wildlife can be challenging but remember years ago when there wasn't auto we still managed to get some remarkable photos in those genres. One caveat, to take advantage of a camera of this quality you'll need to buy quality lenses and they can get costly, most higher in price than you'll pay for the actual Mark II used.

  • takes me back to the good old days when you had to know what you were doing...

Bought my first Canon in 1972; bought my first pro Canon in 1978 or so - top of the line F-1. have had many in between. Then retired and went light and economical and stupid. Now I am back to a pro model with the 5D Mark 2, along with an L lens, and wondering what the hell took me so long. Heavy as hell when coupled with the 24-105 L lens, but full-frame is unparalleled. "You get what you pay for." This thing is no-frills, i.e., it does not provide all those asinine little icons that purport to do the work for you; "Cameras for Dummies." I finally got sick of all that static and nonsense. THIS is a camera. But for SERIOUS photographers who want high image qualities, and know the difference between f/stops and stop signs. Controls are amazingly elegant and simple; more is less. If we weren't married to the damned batteries in our cameras - didn't need them with my old F-1 (which still works perfectly), it would be perfect. But stay away if you use "AUTO" most of the time. You'll be wasting your money. This one begs to be used on manual.

  • Canon 5D Mk ii camera

This camera is ideal for my purposes. It shows the quality that Canon puts into it's products. While the shutter is designed for 150,000 operations this one has over 320,000 and still works well. When used as the camera on my Meade LX90 telescope it is perfect. I removed the IR filter from the camera to make it full spectrum and am very pleased with it. As you can see from the picture of the Great Nebula in Orion taken from my backyard observatory the camera works great.

  • Upgrade from my 15 Y.O. DS II

I bought this camera for an upgrade to my EOS 1DS II!!! I bought the EOS 1 in January of '07. At the time it was as good as you could get in digital at 16 megapixels, plus other features. However, after 15 years the wear has shown and the newer models (this one with 21.1 mp) have outpaced my DS II. This camera is lighter, faster and higher pixel-count. I bought the battery grip to give me the vertical button that I'm used to with the DS II. An added benefit is the longer battery life since I can stack two batteries in the battery grip.

  • Great for starting out

I did not want to spend money on a new full frame after just having a crop sensor, so this was the perfect upgrade for me. The image quality is great and low light shooting is a breeze. It’s still very much a relevant camera even though it’s not the newest. Definitely recommend to people upgrading to their first full frame.

  • Great lowlight capability.

great image quality even in low light, the battery grip gives it a very professional look and feel. love the fact that I will be able to shoot tethered to my laptop using Lightroom, wish I would have purchased one sooner.
