About this product

Product Information

Designed for digital and 35 mm single-lens reflex cameras, the Canon EF 24-70mm F/2.8 lens is built to handle the demands of professional shooting. Durable, lightweight, dust-resistant, and water-resistant, this Canon lens adapts to the conditions and adjusts to the focal length to fit the subject and the scene. The aperture range of f/2.8-22 allows the right amount of light to be captured when needed on cloudy days or in dark interiors. The Super UD and 2 UD lens elements correct chromatic aberration, such as blurriness or color fringing, minimize ghosting, and correct color balance. And it comes ready to travel with lens cap, lens dust cap, lens hood, and lens case.

  • The perfect canon lens but....

The star attraction to this L series (Luxury) Canon lens is photo detail clarity which is amazing! This 24-70mm is an EF lens series meant for full frame bodies. I am using it on a cropped frame Canon EFS series so that gives me an effective 38-112mm lens which works great. The automatic focus is fast and nimble, and the barrel action is tight giving testimony to high quality seals. The deal breaker for some is the lack of IS or image stabilization. If you have shaky hands, consider a different lens with the IS feature. It may also be a good lens for fast action shots using a higher ISO and shutter speed. I only use this lens on a tripod to photograph artifacts and for that purpose, I could not find a better lens. The clarity with which I can zoom in to pick up individual specks of sand in stone is phenomenal.

  • Better than I could have imagined

I went from a 50 mm prime lens to this lens and could not have been happier. This focal range is broad enough to allow for the same lens to be used across different applications from portraits to landscapes. It let's in so much light at f2.8! I recently took some photos at a pumpkin patch and had to shoot at f10 in order to be able to get a picture that wasn't overexposed!! Even without a speed light, I can take Photos inside, in low light, with perfect sharpness. The L series lenses are worth the money and this one is mind-blowing how good it is.

  • Excellent, sharp lens for all applications

Have been using a Canon 24-105 f/4 for several years and I wanted a faster walk-around lens. While the 24-70 is more expensive and not any lighter, it does take amazingly sharp images. There is no IS - which is a bit of a disappointment, but keeping the shutter speed at a minimum of 1/125 I don't detect any motion shake. You can obviously go slower if you keep the focal length toward the lower range.

  • Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM

When both set at f2.8, this lens is sharper at the edges at 50mm than my prime 50mm f1.4, and that's saying a lot. This has less distortion, when opened 'wide', than the 24-105 f4 or 24-70 f4 and is a full stop faster than these. The zoom is also easier to navigate than the 24-105 as it doesn't have such a wide range, so is faster and easier to control your shot. The 9-blade diaphragm gives 18-point stars, which look great. Focuses down to under 8", which means that you won't be moving around as much to get just about any shot that comes your way. The Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM is a great addition to a serious photographer's arsenal. "World's Sharpest Midrange Zoom" - Ken Rockwell

  • Great lens

I have the first generation of this lens, and it has gotten me some great images, but a friend let me borrow this newer version and man I couldn't believe how much sharper the images/color quality was. I'm glad I finally decided to get this lens, I wish that the lens hood was as deep as the previous generation. This new flower type of short hood doesn't work as well in certain angles.

  • Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8 L II USM the new go to lens

I loved my Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8 L USM it was my go to lens. Version II takes photography to a whole new level. It is even faster when you are using auto focus to lock in your focal point. It is smaller and lighter than version I.

  • excellent all around lens

The lens feels solid. Photos at ever focal length are razor sharp. I have held the lens with slower shutter speeds and I have yet to run into an issue with camera shake from the like of image stabilization.

  • Great results!

Short on time so I will keep it simple. A friend of mine recommended this lens to me after telling me how much she liked hers. She was right. I would highly recommend this lens to anyone looking to fill that gap. In my case my 70-200 lens is fantastic, but a bit too much for basketball photos after I received a media pass that allowed me to photograph on the court as opposed to row 20 in the stands. The images are fantastic. If you are considering, I would tell you to buy it if you are able. I am very happy with my purchase.

  • Great lens

Great lens. There are other brands that are probably good too, but I haven't tried them yet. This is a do it all lens for me. I use it for product photos, portraits, car photography, and more.
