I actually had this book for Christmas when I was a teenager and had it for about 45 years until I came to Australia, I always intended to bring it over one time but to see it for under 5 bucks was just too good to miss so I bought it.
I love this book because it has so much more than just recipes. I should imagine it's along the lines of what a River Cottage cookery book would be like. It has blanching times for freezing veg and diagrams for butchering and which cuts are best for which type of cooking. Along with recipes from around the world and just so many different things. I remember making moussaka for my Girl Guides 'thinking day'. My girls birthday cakes from the recipe in there which tells you to beat the egg whites separately and fold them in. The tomato pickle is to die for and I have made bucket loads of it. The chicken liver pate is a Christmas favourite, I could go on and on. I so missed this book not being to hand in my kitchen and I am so pleased that I own it again. It's also in lbs and ozs so I know where I am with the quantities. As you can see I love this book. It arrived in excellent condition and even still had it's dust jacket, way better than the state of the much pawed one that I left in old blighty.
