Once you remove it from your dock, you can swap it back into any internal SATA laptop bay.Designed especially for use with portable machines, the WD5000BMVW features a circuit board attached to the underside with special fasteners. This attached PCB is specially designed to resist mechanical shocks. If it is installed on any mobile device, the PCB won't jar the drive when on the move. If you need to take the hard drive out of the machine to adjust it, then the PCB won't peel off while the hard drive is being unscrewed. The board on these drives is attached without the use of sticky PCB adhesive. That means you won't have to worry about humidity ruining the PCB on these drives.Firmware installed on this board reports information about the disk to the host machine. This allows your BIOS or UEFI system to identify the drive without any need for configuration. Logical Block Addressing (LBA) technology lets this disk handle all geometric settings through the drive controller. Your system software will address each block on the platters through an arbitrary identification number. There won’t be any calculating issues about where to put information on the drive when you run your backup program.This drive handles data recovery operations automatically.
