  • Great performance for a 6 years old computer.

I now use Parallels with windows 10 and windows 7 vms, running at the same time without noticing a drop on the performance on the mac host. It was easy to install and the kit has everything need. Still, I recommend the use of a "premium" thermal paste. I'm using Artic Silver 5. Initially, I used the thermal paste that came with the kit and noticed that the cpus were way above the temperature I'm used to (from ~40ºC went to ~60ºC). I then tried a thermal paste from Thermal Take that the local Best Buy had in stock. While that improved (from 60ºC to 40~50ºC), I gave a try on the AS5 and despite the hassle of having to un-assembly and clean the cpus / coolers one more time, I'm glad I did. After the Artic Silver, the iStat graph showed a drop on the average temperature and when I start some VMs, I don't have to increase the A/C to be able to work in the same room. Bottom line: these will give a Mac Pro 5.1 a few more year of life, hopefully, enough time until Apple makes some decent Mac Pros again.

  • Excellent

Works well, and all OK. However, pressure on heat sink is extremely critical (see reports) for success and review carefully before installing

  • Works so far

You have to know what your doing to install these chips. Even so, it can be difficult to undo the fan clip on the 2009/2010 Mac pro.

  • Works great!

As expected. These processors are working great in my 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 with the firmware updated to 5,1 after I modded them to remove the heat shields. I'm getting geekbench 4 scores above 20k multicore and 2800 single core now. Not bad for an 8-yr old computer!

  • Great cheap CPU's lots of cores.

I had to clean off some residual thermal paste from the previous use. But other than that they work well. i paired them with X8DTH-6F Supermicro Dual LGA1366 and fully loaded the ram. They are working great in a FreeNAS 11.2 system.

  • I like these CPU processors. I don't think I've ever received a bad one from anyone. These are the fastest of the series, I think.

  • Excellent Mac Pro Upgrade - Not for the feint hearted!

With the 2nd-hand pricing, a pair of these will perform like a Ryzen 7 1800X in heavily multi-threaded tasks, albeit with slightly less single-threaded power, but giving exceptional value and breathing new life into an old workstation for a fraction of the cost of building a complete new system.

  • Best CPU for a X58 motherboard

CPU works as expected, massive upgrade from an i920 core. Installed on a PT6 motherboard.

  • Long wait but works great.

I got a free T7500 workstation from my place of work. I upgraded this computer with the Xeon X5690. Big improvement. Delivery was from Taiwan so it took about two months but when I got it worked perfectly.

  • Everything fine!

Works as I was specting, it take a long time to arrive but I guess it was the bad postal service in my coutry, the cpu looks like new and works perfect. Thank you.
