    Good quality model at a reasonable price.

    Athearn "Blue Box" kits were the de facto standard for model railroaders for many years. They came decorated for all of the then current railroads and were easy to build. The details were good and the kits are relatively easily customizable. Many of the more modern kits may be better detailed and possibly more smoother running. The modern ready to run Athearn cupola cabooses however are based on these original kits.

    These Athearn caboose can be detailed with wire grabs and added lighting to make a fine model. For me that is not a lot of extra work, it is my hobby.
