Great Lightweight Headphones - Terrible Instructions for Non-Techies

I bought these for my husband at our vacation home. He indicates that they 'feel' much cheaper than the original ones we bought 5 years ago at home. Unless you understand electronics, the pictures and minimal text didn't help me at all. The setup instructions include terms like make sure then AV adaptor is linked with the input plugs ... for those of us who don't know what an AV adaptor or an input plug is (yes, I'm an electronic idiot), it was a challenge setting this up. It's a good thing that the plugs were color coordinated and the pictures showed the difference in cords for different media. But, once I got it set up correctly (after lots of sweat and swearing), my husband loves it. He can hear the TV much more clearly through the headphones and he likes the lighter weight than his older ones. His only complaint is that the volume button is much smaller on this set than his old one. So I gave the headphones a 4 star rating just because the instructions could be much more comprehensive and the complaint about the size of the volume scroller - but my husband is a happy man now that he can hear the TV clearly.

    Quality is unreliable

This is the second Sony wireless headphone system I've purchased. The first one I bought works flawlessly. This one however, has light static sound and crackling. I switched the headphones with my original pair and the distracting sound was still there, therefore I suspect the transmitter has a malfunction. As usual, the ordering process with eBay has been flawless. I just have some product dissatisfaction.

  • Not just for the hard-of-hearing!

Husband is in construction and gets up in the middle of the night. The television is right against the bedroom wall and, boy, does sound travel. I'd taken to cutting the volume to next to nothing and using the closed captions. No fun! but with this headphone - I can listen as loudly as I wish and not bother him. Would like to be able to make it a little more sturdy against my head or a little less hot against my ears, but I just turn the volume even louder and have it nestled just under my ears and still get the full effect.

  • Sony WH-RF 400 wireless stereo headphone sysstem.

The numbers for audio level are practically invisible, and all other labels are too light, hardly visible also. Audio gain thumb wheel should be click type, because it can be accidentally miss-adjusted in use. It is slightly heavy, but expected from high quality headphones of that style. Everything else is fine., The cradle/battery/RF transmitter unit should accept the headphones in the unit in a more positive and decisive way; as it is now, it is often necessary to jiggle it a little bit to make a positive connection (minor issue). The unit I got had the Spanish version instructions; no English text (I'm bilingual, so it was no problem to me, but it could have been a real nuisance for non-Spanish speaking users). Having qualified my review with the above listed drawbacks.I would recommend this item to family and friends.(in fact, I purchased a second unit).

  • Nice set of headphones...Sony quality

This item is listed as open-box, aka. "used", but it appears brand new in every aspect. Totally functions and works great. The sound is very good. The charging system is good. Pretty comfortable too. Works well for kitchen duty and grilling duty while the game is played on TV. Inexpensive and a good purchase all around.

  • Sony Wireless Headphones gets two thumbs up!

Being in the radio broadcast business for 52 years I have used Sony, Sennheiser, Koss, all wired. 10 years ago I bought Sennheiser wireless and it was good. This Sony wireless I bought a couple weeks ago sound great and the batteries last long. Easy to charge too. The only problem I have is the same as the Sennheiser. Walk from the living room where the TV is, to the kitchen and you'll hear fading and popping. Audio broadcast is my career and the Sony gets big thumbs up!

  • Exact replacement -- just what I needed

I needed to replace an identical unit that physically broke because the user sat on it. This was just what I needed -- just the headset. After it arrived promptly and well-packed, I plugged in the old batteries and it immediately found the transmitter and started playing sound. It couldn't be easier. And the unit looks brand new. I'm thinking about ordering another one as a backup, since we have a couple of these, and accidents happen.

  • Sony RF400 Wireless Home Theater Headphones (WHRF400)

Great headphones to listen to some good music with and drown out all the voices in my head and the sorry saps who are always rambling on in my ears (who think they have the right to pester me even more than humanly possible and have to be the center of attention, even though they aren't really anybody that I would like to hear anyways or anytime,) I would leave these on all the time (except when I'm watching some good old fashion XXX hardcore filth) if it wasn't for the rechargable batteries that have to be charged every now and again. In other words I love these things more than a couple pairs of earbuds that I've had previously purchased. Excellant use of money well spent.

  • A must have for hearing loss or watching tv with the sound off or muted.

Best headset that is wireless but not Bluetooth that I have found. I have two pair because my mother in law has trouble hearing the tv. We both can watch tv and not bother anyone else. The batteries seem to last all night and the next day. Easy off switch when not in use. I buy them on sale for around $20. Sony is a name brand I have used for years.

  • Great Except for Static Blast in Ears Whenever It Shuts Down-- Which is A Lot

For the money it's a great bargain. There's two big complaints I have. 1. When the unit shuts itself down (presumably to save power) and it is still on your ears, it will make a big nasty white noise static sound right in your ears! This is not the soothing white noise like they sell for sleeping or babies. This is offensive, hurtful. It's amazing that Sony would let this go. This happens all the time. You can pause your movie and go to do something else without sound and a couple of minutes pass-- BOOM! You have this horrible sound right in your eardrums. I mean, come on! 2. If you wear them long enough, they become uncomfortable. There's not much padding and they are a bit tight no matter how much you adjust them. The sound quality is pretty good-- not stellar and awesome, but pretty good. I only paid $28 for mine and that's definitely an excellent buy for the price. But that nasty static blast into my ears already has me wanting a better unit.
