The GTP 450AM/FM stereo turner preamp is ADCOM’s most affordable remote controlled amplifier, yet it’s sonically superior to many separate preamplifier/turner stereo combinations that are far more expensive. The GTP-450 amps have an excellent built-in tuner section that employs accurate quartz synthesizer technology to deliver on excellent FM/AM reception. The amps are equipped with ADCOM-specific engineering features that were used in their award-winning separates: their trademark linear gain amplifier and proprietary circuit topology. Engineered as an ideal match for any ADCOM high current power amplifier, the GTP-450 allows you to customize your music system to your own liking. Thanks to its Class “A” high-level output circuitry, the GTP-450 amps respond more accurately to musical input, producing the clarity, sound-stage accuracy, and superior resolution for which ADCOM is known. The GTP-450 amp also features a two-channel preamplifier that minimizes hum and noise, five L/R RCA inputs, and a built-in tuner that produces broadcast-quality sound. The preamp delivers station monitor-quality FM reproduction, the highest signal quality allowed in broadcasting. The GTP-450 amplifier takes an audio stereo system to the next level, delivering a lush, rich, transparent, natural sound through your speakers. Perhaps the one complaint about the ADCOM GTP 450 amp is the remote control, which some users find is either too low or too high. The GTP-450 remote features a power On/Off button, Numeric keypad/Tuning selectors, CD player controls, input selectors, audio mute On/Off, and a master volume Up/Down control button. Location plays a key role in device performance. As specified in the manual, the phono preamp ADCOM GTP-450 amplifier should be set up in a stable, vibration-free location that is as close as possible to the other audio video components, such as a Denon AV receiver. The more massive and firm the surface, the less likely there will be problems. Amplifiers should be given sufficient time (30 seconds after turn-off) to discharge their power supplies before connections are done. The ADCOM GTP 450 amp has a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and a total harmonic distortion of 0.0075%. The signal to noise ratio is 95dB (line). Great tuner/preamp combo for the money
This is a replacement for an identical unit I owned for 24 years until the left channel gave out. Good quality two-channel stereo sound production at an easy-on-the-household-budget cost. Intermittant Problem Turned Into Quit
Now I know why the previous owner unloaded this dog. FM tuner worked for a couple days before an intermittent problem became evident, including signal loss and loud pops. It began working properly again a couple hours later. On-again off-again same issue for a week until it (the FM section) stopped working altogether. I have a lot of hi-fi audio experience, having worked a few years in the field. Have owned this model and other similar Adcom preamp-tuners in the past. My analysis is that some people disclose everything, while others pass their problems along to the next guy. The price one pays for being the former, as am I, means being the one who takes the loss. Has happened all too often on this site. Two other sites run by enthusiasts who understand the equipment and want to maintain standing in the audio community have proved to be sources for much more reliable equipment. Tape 1 Input not working
I bought this Item due to my knowledge of the Adcom product and insofar as sound quality it’s what I expected. This thing is amazing sounding. I bought it used E pluribus unum right. Tape one doesn’t work. That was the input I wanted to use my Bluetooth receiver on. That’s on tape two and my iPod is excluded from the home system due to a lack of inputs. Seller said the item was tested. It does power on It does sound great with my CD player and my Turntable… Bluetooth meh… but tape one doesn’t work. But One!
Very nice, older preamp. Just the ticket for running a CD player through! Makes almost no noise, so during breaks in the music all you hear is silence.The volume control through the remote is tricky, a tiny bit goes a long way. Can't review the tuner section, as I have it in my basement were there is no reception, period! The stereo separation is great, and bass and treble controls are getting hard to find.
