You can use this unit with your gaming system, laptop, or workstation. It has a SATA interface that offers rapid data transfer. G-Force Protection keeps your data safe when your laptop or gaming system takes a tumble. The Self-Encrypting Drive keeps your data secure from data breaches. Let this internal hard drive expand the capabilities of your electronics.Designed for consumer laptops and for desktop computers with limited space, these drives are built with a 2.5-inch form factor. Their slim profile allows you to use these devices in tandem with many other hard disks. They can also be used in a small notebook computer where other drives won't fit. The Seagate Momentus connects to a motherboard via a 3 GB/s SATA interface. This delivers plenty of data transfer speed. A 7200 RPM spindle allows you to access any address on the hard disk quickly. This disk uses a 16MB buffer cache to hold critical I/O data, noticeably improving your user experience. A fluid dynamic bearing motor decreases noise, wear, and vibrations, which increase the life of the component.Latency rates have a major impact on overall disk performance. The Seagate Momentus ST9500423AS has an average latency rate of only 4.2 milliseconds, keeping lookup times low. The 300 MBps data transfer rate sends large quantities of data up and downstream quickly. This enables you to run complex software applications from this device. Native Command Queuing quickly optimizes the order for read/write commands to the disk. By grouping simpler commands together, it can increase the rate of data transfer dramatically, resulting in a much-improved experience on your end. HDD models rarely make a non-recoverable error. The chances of this model doing so are one in 10 to the fourteenth power. That is effectively zero for all noncommercial applications, giving you security and peace of mind. These drives support 600,000 stop/start cycles before they become unhealthy. This allows you to run them for years with a very low risk of failure. SMART diagnostic and scanning tools allow you to detect when this drive may be approaching the end of its life. If you check for and act on those alerts, you can save your data, which often means preserving years of work and lots of memories.A series of hard drive optimizations allow you to run Seagate Momentus accessories in many conditions for many different tasks.     The Most Dependable HDD

    I replaced my first hard drive about 8 years ago and had problem after problem after replacing it twice with other brands. I replaced it the third time with a Seagate and never had another problem. Since that time, I have replaced several hard drives in different computers I have and have had and I have not had any problems because I always use a Seagate. This hard drive is quiet and very fast (the 7200 rpm model) for a disk drive. Sure a SSD is probably much faster but then you have the cost difference. For the cost, you can't get a better hard drive than this one. I will and do highly recommend it to all of my friends and relatives.
