Awesome mic for the price! Unless you are wanting a SM57
Just because this mic looks like a 57. It is not a 57! So right away get that out of your head when using one! I bought mine for under $20 USD. I needed a mic that I wouldn't worry about getting beat up but still had a descent sound. I'm cheap so an actual 57 would still be too expensive. I saw a review from rDavidr on YouTube using 4 of these on a drum set. He actually got a good sound from them so I bought a pair. As rDavidr found, these actually work well on the kick. So I paired mine with a Yamaha Sub kick and got good results. These mics do not have a line transformer as the SM57 does. So it does take a lot of gain from your Pres. Which in the application of guitar cabs and drums is fine! I see a lot of people complaining about distortion on loud sources. You will loose head room if there isn't a transformer. So if you are trying to record a 100 watt Marshall at full volume, most expensive mics are going to have a hard time. Now I bought 2 mics. Tonally they are different one is brighter, the other is darker. SM57s suffer from the same issue. Now keeping in mind that this mic is a $20 mic, this is my take on the build quality and packaging. I was surprised to find that the mic body was made out of with I think is aluminum with a ABS type plastic cage. The plastic is quite cheap feeling and I expect it to break on the first contact with a drum stick or the floor. The XLR connector seems to be solid. The milling of the body is spot on but needs the edges knocked down as the edges and the milling is still sharp. When I revived both mics, the capsule was loose and one was a turn away from falling off the body. The mic was shipped with a 15-20' XLR to 1/4" Male cable. This would be nice if both ends were XLRs. The packaging was OK. I would have like to seen foam or some sort of packing as the mic and cable was just rolling around the box. But as I keep saying, it was less than $20! If you are just wanting to get started in a podcast or want to start learning how to record or need a mic to beat on. Then this is totally fine!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

You wont be regret buying!
I have purchased three of the Pyle PDMIC78. mics, and are totally pleased with the sound of them. With a touch of some equalization, they sound as good as any mic I have. I used to use a ball type mic....until I left it somewhere. Had bought the PDMIC78's and thought might as well at least try it....I did....great. I bought a windscreen for the ones I had. The locking windscreen for the Shure SM57 fits perfect. I will continue to use the PDMIC78. Fantastically well built at a bargain. Highly recommend.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

After seeing a lot of favorable reviews and listening too some on line videos I decided to give the mike a try. For under $15 bucks delivered it wasn't a big risk. And it has delivered as good as if not better than I expected. Plugged It in my audio interface placed it in front of guitar speaker. A started recording. Couldn't be any more simple than that. Not a 57 but still usefull
This mike is close in sound to a 57 but has a little brighter sound. This may be great in some applications. I have 4 of these, two will not click and hold the XLR connector. These are the same weight as a 57 but I don't yet know if they will hold up to road use. On the great side you can get 6 or 7 of these for the price of one 57. A Shure A2WS (foam wind screen) fits perfectly. They come with a useless XLR to 1/4 inch cable. No stand adapter.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great, inexpensive alternative to the sm57
I bought 2 of these to add to my artillery to record drums and guitar amps. I used one on the kick and the other on the snare, and a shure 55sh as an overhead, and the sound was unbelievable. On guitar amps this mic really shines as well. The mic does take vocals well, but its strong point is drums and amps. This mic is a steal for the money and can be used in any way you'd use the sm57 with great results. The only complaints I have about this microphone, are that the cable it came with was an xlr to mono 1/4", which I don't believe I'll ever find an application for it. The other, is that the wiring inside the mic is rather fragile, and you can't beat on this mic and expect it to survive, like you would an sm57. SM what?
Cheap as hell but i love how they take the distorted guitars on the cabs, they chug! I don't recomend to record clean electric guitars o cabinets. This are mid/treble range mics, they're aren't good mics for bass frequencies. Great clone and insane quality for price!
This mic is meant to be a clone of the sm57, so it's already trying to compete with a $90 microphone while being only $14 (at the time if reviewing it). After doing some testing, it does not disappoint. (Unfortunately the only mic I had to test it against was a blue Yeti at the time.) The funny thing was, the Pyle delivered greater audio quality than the Yeti. It might have to do partially that I had it hooked up to a scarlett solo, but still...
