This Olympus M.Zuiko EZ 12-50 mm f/3.5-6.3 lens allows the photographer to capture exceptionally clear images at extremely close ranges. In this Olympus camera lens's normal mode, it can focus at as little as 13.7 inches, and this Olympus M.Zuiko EZ lens can focus at only 7.87 inches with a minimal field size of only 36 x 48 mm using its built-in macro mode. Using this Olympus camera lens's 12-50 mm f/3.5-6.3 lens capabilities, low-lighting conditions and indoor subject matter are the most effective uses of this Olympus M.Zuiko EZ lens. However, in high lighting conditions this lens's f/22 aperture can also be used. Weighing 7.44 oz and measuring 2.04 x 3.26 inches, this lens is tiny enough to carry anywhere and can be kept on the camera is mounts to even when it is not in use. Great kit lens upgrade, especially for video enthusiests
I bought this lens as a step of from my kit lens ( the 14-42 EZ ) because It's a bit shorter and longer while staying just as fast. The zoom function is really interesting as it's fly-by-wire instead of mechanical. This is both good and bad, mostly good. In "manual" mode it emulates a traditional lens zoom, with almost a nearly imperceptible delay. It may bother some people but I stopped noticing it very quickly. The other mode is basically a 'video camera zoom" mode, which makes this lens one of the best available for video recording with a MFT camera. Another great feature is the macro mode. While not as good as a true macro lens, it's great to be able to take impromptu macro shots without needing to change lenses. I consider it a bonus feature rather than something I based my purchasing decision on.

Good value for the money!
I bought this for the power zoom and the nice focal range. Unfortunately, it’s a bit softer than my other Leica and M. Zuiko lenses. I had to double the sharpening to get a pleasing result. I probably won’t be using this lens on a regular basis as I use my photo gear to make a living. I may have gotten a “soft copy” and you may get better results. My 14-150 Oly version 2 is extremely sharp.

Very good lens. Great alternative to the kit lens.
This lens is awesome. I both it to replace my kit lens 12-42 3.5/5.6 R lens. The Glass is as twice as big as kit lens, fly by wire zoom has totally different filling than standard lens, but getting used to it took me no time. Having Macro on it it is a very big plus. Lens is also 8mm longer than kit lens too. I was shooting with it he whole day today and I go a very good results. Images are sharp, well saturated. Lens is quick and very quit. Very good for stills and video. This lens is a great alternative to the kit lens. Overall it is a much better lens than kit lens. It is a great day lens.

Surprisingly good lens
A lot of chatter on the internet that the lens is soft. Meh. It's at least as sharp as other kit lenses at this focal length and maybe a little sharper. The weather sealing seems to work well. For the money, it's a great lens to have!

I like this lens
I've become a fan of fast prime lenses, which this cannot replace, but for versatility in daylight, this zoom is great. Compared with the regular kit zoom, 14-42mm, the 12mm wide angle offers more interesting creative possibilities, and the macro function is a welcome addition. I'll save the fast primes for low light and fast-moving subjects, but the 12-50mm could be my default lens for normal daylight shooting plus flower macros.

Really Like This Lens
I had an Olympus 14-42mm in the past. This newer 12-50mm lens is a big leap ahead. I am really enjoying using this lens. I like to take a lot of macro photos as well as landscapes. This lens handles both quite well. It is a great lens and the price is very reasonable.
