About this product

Product Information

Give your home music studio professional-quality sound with the CAD U37 condenser microphone. Simply wire the microphone up to the computer using a USB connection to begin recording crystal-clear rich audio on your PC or Mac. The frequency response of the U37—20 hertz to 20 kilohertz—and the large condenser capsule provide the optimum technology to record singing, instrumental music, or simply human speech. In addition, a minus-10-decibel overload-protection switch keeps distortion at a minimum, while other features protect against ambient room noise. A 10-foot USB cable allows you to set up the microphone at a convenient room location, and the tripod stand gives the mic a professional look.

    Exceptional for its Price Range

The CAD U37 delivers performance virtually on par with recording systems (of various types) several times its price. With the bass notes suppressed, the sound is slightly tinny and anemic, but its capability to suppress background noise even without this option is considerable, and as such is no significant deterrent to its use. Its sound under good recording conditions rivals some top of the line models, and anyone who has used a CAD U1 or similar low-end microphone will be blown away by its abilities when the rather slight increase in price is considered. While the microphone itself is exquisite, the plastic stand which it comes with is fairly substandard and prone to breakage if folded and unfolded repeatedly. Its cord length is substantial enough for any common use and the microphone is acceptably rugged as well. The USB connection is gold plated, as well.

  • Top critical review

Very easy to set up but horrible sound quality

My Samsung Galaxy 5 phone records better audio - this has no mid range or low end at all (I tried all the settings) and my guitar sounds thin and tinny, but on my cell phone it sounds perfect. This mic is absolute trash.

  • Decent sound, & comes in Colors!

Very decent Mic for the price. Sound quality isn't top of the line at this price, but very very good, especially as a backup. I've has to use them in a studio emergency more than once. I now have 6 of these, (in different colors!), and use them pretty frequently. With a pop filter, and controlled conditions they are almost completely noiseless. Small artifacts, if any, are easily cleaned up in post. Used quite a few times in studio with people doing voice overs. A friend of mine was starting a podcast, and bought 3 of them. They were perfect for setting up his in home studio. Not perfect, not Pro quality, but for what these sell for, they are a very good bargain. And...it's always good to have spares. I mentioned Colors. I have Black/Silver, Black/Fluorescent Orange, & Black/Lime green. I think that's great. Adds a bit of the unexpected to the studio. Recommended to anyone that enjoys playing with sounds!

  • My review of the Cad Audio U37 USB Condenser Recording Microphone

The Cad Audio U37 USB Condenser Recording Microphone was a play and play on my Ubuntu laptop. It worked directly out of the box with Google sheets. It does not work with Audacity. Working on the configuration of Audacity and Ubuntu. I will follow up if able to get it to work with Audacity and Ubuntu

  • Great sound but is strictly hsnd-held!

I'm very pleased with all aspects of this mic except its lack of a mount, or even a way to mount it. This mic is strictly to be handheld - there is no place a person could attach it to a stand or tripod. Since the USB port is in the tail, the cord will always be in the way. I got it to be a high-gain, hi-fi mic for zoom meetings, so I have just laid it on my desk in a crsdle of USB cords till I figure ouyt how to mount it.

  • Great Starter Mic

I was looking for a microphone to record my A Capella Demos of original songs I've written with and this one does the job nicely. My best friend who is an indie singer/songwriter said that it's a good one. I can record my vocals A Capella or play my acoustic guitar and sing at the same time. Either way it's a good mic for an indie singer/songwriter.
