A compatible CPU would include any Intel Core i7 processor. The digital power control for CPU and DRAM contains three digital voltage controllers that offer ultraprecise memory tuning and CPU voltage control. The ASUS Sabertooth X79 boasts the Intel X79 chipset, which is a complex chipset equipped with many of the features available on a consumer-grade motherboard. Eight quad-channel DDR3 RAM slots with support for up to 64 gigabytes of memory mean that this motherboard can support a large memory bank, which will enhance any application you need to run. The Thermal Armor feature gives it airflow-boosting heat dissipation, while the thermal radar monitors heat levels to prevent your computer from overheating. DIGI+ Power Control allows for precise adjustments of power consumption by each of the board's components. This extends the life span of these elements while significantly decreasing power consumption. Military-certified TUF capacitors, chokes, and MOFSETS ensure the ASUS Sabertooth X79 will meet durability standards. The ATX form factor is engineered to fit most PC cases.Good BIOS firmware makes important configuration tasks simple. The ASUS UEFI BIOS installed on the Sabertooth X79 makes tasks like overclocking and fan speed configuration much easier to carry out. By making their BIOS graphical, ASUS has taken a lot of the difficulty and guesswork out of traditional BIOS systems and made it easier for end-users to operate. With a 64-bit operating system, this BIOS is capable of handling any hard drive with up to 2.2 terabytes of storage.

  • Good Mobo with quirks

I was able to install pretty much everything in an easy first pass and booted to a generalized Windows install without issue. A few days later however, I notice it was taking longer to boot and became so slow that I could barely boot into safe mode. I read up on how the SSD caching could cause issues so I reconnected my SSD's to the regular 6 gb/s SATA ports instead of the SSD caching ports and everything ran fine. Another minor issue is the fact that AI suite mixes up the 12V and 3V rail voltages readings and says the 12v is 3v and vice versa. Just have to switch off monitoring in the thermal radar in AI suite to stop the notifications (or uninstall AI suite). Besides these two minor problems, everything runs smoothly.

  • Best bang for the buck

I built a rig with this motherboard back in July of 2012, and the Sabertooth x79 has served me well until recently. That's like over 12 years, mostly 24/7/365, and since I use that rig with Windows 7 for specific programs and tasks, I wasn't ready to let it go. It's why I looked and found this replacement. Just pulled the old one, mounted the new one and connected all my other components including ram, CPU, & AIO cooler. I don't need to run it as often now with my other new Windows 11 rig I use for gaming. It is also an ASUS Tuff motherboard.

  • I'm so glad

I was really glad there is someone out there that is making these bios chips. My machine is five or six years old now and I was able to get a chip with the latest bios update on it. Without it I would just have an i7 carcass that wouldn't even boot. So I'm thrilled. The whole process from ordering to delivery worked too. I'm thinking about buying a backup just because it's inexpensive and the process for updating the BIOS on my system has changed and is causing problems for me.

  • Worth EVERY penny

This board is worth every single penny if you can get your hands on it. The board comes with a 5 year warranty, which even though it was first released in 2011, should give anyone who buys it enough time to have a system for a few years. It has more than enough usb and sata ports, not to mention the ram slots as well. The bios is extremely friendly. I can not say enough about this board.

  • It worked for my issue.

The system booted, but would not enter the BIOS. settings page Tried resetting CMOS, removing battery and replacing with anew one, and attempting to flash BIOS through USB flashback which failed. This worked for my issue.

  • Good overall

I have always been happy with asus products. If i were to give any negatives it would be regarding asus' slow support of the ai suite 3. A very usefull program that unfortunately wont run in windows 10 with this motherboard. There are other programs out there that monitor temperature.

  • top shelf board

event though this platform is several years old, it is still one of best and most robust platforms out there. the x79 is loaded with performance and great specs. overall with a fast cpu, this system is 90% as fast as the latest chip sets out there...and that is why it maintains its price point. and the better boards, like the asus, are extreme tweak-able and flexible with lots of perpheral features. Asus is probably the top name in this line.

  • Excellent board, very fast.

Product has been in the past a great product. I waited for the right time to put certain items in with it. Now, I have the best of every component. Thanks.

  • Worked like a charm

Worked perfectly. It saved me from a very bad situation... Killed my best friend's PC by updating the very old BIOS firmware... This chip saved me from buying a very old and expensive motherboard.
