Great price for a good DVD player
I bought this DVD player because my more expensive Sony BDV-E300 entertainment unit with build in Blu-ray/DVD player developed problems reading and playing certain new DVDs (Still don't know what the problem is except I assume it has to do with how certain discs are manufactured) Instead of taking my system apart and paying for one of Sony's licenced repair places to "troubleshoot" my player, I figured I'd try spending less than $30 on this unit. And so far, it has had no problems playing the DVDs my more expensive unit reject. Initial setup when turned on for the first time was self explanatory via the menu, it pretty detect and sets itself up, and hook up is straight forward as well: HDMI cable or component. Two choices, very simple. It has done the job I bought it for, and therefore, it was $30 well invested.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

A tiny DVD player with poorly-designed firmware
I guess I'm spoiled by well-designed low-end DVD players. Just because a unit is cheap doesn't mean it has to be hard to use, but this Sony is both cheap and hard to use. Here are some important negatives: From a power-off state: --The door cannot be opened with the door open/close button on the player; the unit first needs to be powered on. This is true for the remote control also. --Powering on the unit does not automatically begin playing the disk, and there is no way to change this behavior. There is no remote-control button dedicated to zoom, making zooming majorly inconvenient.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Small Unit, Good Picture Quality and Sound
Works well. Small Unit with capable picture and sound quality. Does have One HDMI input and RCA jacks. I gave it only 4 Stars due to the minimal manual buttons on the unit. The player is like new and works as described.
I put this player in my bedroom on a 1080p HD television bought on Amazon to watch movies on DVD and it does reproduce the HD image very well with no playback problems. The remote is medium sized and the top buttons on the player itself do operate the disc tray and the power and playback. Very small

Proud purchase for an even better price
It is brand new out of the package. Excellent quality and very easy to use. I saw all the buttons on the remote and dvd player and I thought this is going to be confusing. Plugged it into the TV and it did everything itself. That’s even being plugged into a Roku TV. Very nice clear picture and the DVD player played like it came with the TV. Very proud of my purchase. Would strongly recommend this product.

OK, but expected a little better
The player plays as you'd expect, given its old technology. It is also compact, which is nice. And it also has both HDMI and 3 prong composite cables, which I need, and no other player I could find offered. But it is slow to respond to the remote controller, which itself is quite flimsy. And the only light on it is a very small green one indicating whether it is on or off. And I have to be close and right in front of the player to see the light. So I hit the button on the controller and have to wait to see if the light comes on - can't see the light from a chair 10 feet away. Then with no light to tell me, I have to wait to see if the DVD tray opens. Then I have to wait awhile to see if it actually starts playing. I know it's only $39, but I figured since it was a Sony, it would be pretty responsive. I'll keep it, but I can't recommend it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Sony HDMI ,DVD Player
I'm extremely impressed with my purchase,I asked them to pack it up really well because of the laziness of other sellers,put me in a position where I had to open cases to get my refund,I'm still not finished,not anyone has given me a refund as of yet. I'm angry at the fact that they're taking an advantage of me and I'm not going to get a refund from anyone. I'm just going to escalate the case.These people who are running this company are great people and I know I will be ordering from them again. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase,it even pairs up with my Sony Bravia Smart TV. I'm very happy to have found them, i may be able to get a surround sound system next. I'm praying that I don't have any problems with new speakers like I had when I ordered a sound bar last time. Only 1 speaker works and it has feedback really bad.
