Still love it - but with reservations
I was always troubled by the lid on my previous model, which was stiff to close and made a loud noise. So I was relieved to find the new one changed and, seemingly much smoother, easier and quiet closing. However, after a few days, it began to stick so I did what was suggested in the instructions and squeezed in the metal pieces. This seemed to help but shortly after, it stuck even worse and I could hardly get the lid open. At that point, because I was struggling to open it, I registered that the knob on the lid had a slightly sharp rim round it and became hot after boiling - surely not good. It's also very plastic, in look and feel.
I'm very put out by this because, apart from that, it's the best kettle I've had and overall I felt it was worth the quite substantial extra cost. It's great to hold and pour and boils quietly and quickly. I'm not sure about the new internal plastic knob on the heat conductor. It is too large and leaves a smaller area for pouring the water into the kettle. This means you have to be more careful when doing this otherwise it would splash over the sides.
There is still an unknown. With my last Dualit - the same model - the spout started to go slightly rusty after a year or so and did not last very long - about 3 years max, which, in relation to other much cheaper kettles I've had, is pretty poor. Hoping neither of these failings will occur with this one.
Despite reservations - well, the lid definitely needs attention - I still love it!
