The black Canon PowerShot SX160 IS Digital Camera is a more neutral version of its bright red counterpart. It comes armed with a 16x optical zoom and a built-in image stabilizer. Compact and versatile, the SX160 features Canon's fast DIGIC 4 image processor. This processor gives it a host of useful features, including the ability to capture 720p HD video with ease. At this resolution, video can be captured in 30 FPS or 25 FPS for a more cinematic look. Canon's optical image stabilizer kicks in when low shutter speeds are needed. This stabilization feature ensures that photographers capture the moment with clarity even if a tripod is not available. You can capture beautiful images with the capable 16.0-Megapixel CCD sensor, which offers high-resolution, ensuring plenty of detail and excellent color tones. This PowerShot uses standard AA batteries, meaning photographers do not have to invest in special batteries or power adapters. With just two batteries, you should be able to snap around 400 photos in a single charge. Whether you're a beginner or advanced photographer, dealing with different light sensitivities is always going to be required. In order to accommodate a wide range of sensitivities, these Canon cameras include an ISO range of 100 to 1,600. The autofocus technology that assists you with focusing on the most important aspects of a photo is feature-intensive. This mode comes equipped with seven separate technologies that help you take the best picture possible. These technologies include everything from face detection and live view to contrast detect and multi-area. If you would like more control over the focus on a picture, simply switch over to manual focus. These digital cameras weigh only .64 pounds, making them very portable. This light weight makes this device easy to hold and carry on lengthier photoshoots. While the optical zoom for this camera is a whopping 16x, you're also provided with a digital zoom of 4x magnification. With the built-in flash on these compact cameras, you can select from five unique modes to use. These includes auto, flash on/off, slow synchronization, and manual. Any photo or video you take with this Canon SX160 is automatically saved to a memory card. These cameras are compatible with all SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards. A wide variety of exposure controls is also provided to you, with nine exposures in total. These include scene, discreet, creative filter, aperture priority, shutter priority, and movie. Spot, multi, and center-weighted metering controls are also available for you to tinker with. This Canon camera comes with a minimum focal length of 28 millimeters and a maximum length of 448 millimeters. The zoom lens with this camera has an aperture range of F3.5 - F5.9. This wide-angle lens provides you with fantastic performance and a lot of versatility when snapping a picture. The minimum shutter speed you'll encounter with this device is 15 seconds while the maximum is 1/3200 of a second. When taking a photo that you want to be in, simply use the self-timer feature. Checkout the Canon PowerShot SX160 IS
It s a nice little camera - not too small and not to big. It uses 2-AA batteries which is why I bought the camera. Nothing like being out walking a trail and have the battery go dead in you point and shoot. You just can't plug it into a tree and charge it, but with a AA battery camera you just change the batteries and keep shooting. Best features about the camera: 16.o Mp, it has a control dial (m, av, tv, p) which allows you an infinite amount of control over your picture taking. You have direct control over shutter speed, or aperture setting, or you can use the program mode, It allows you to use manual exposure settings as well. It takes really nice pictures especially in daylight. It allows for manual focus (mf) which can come in handy when trying to take pictures of fast moving objects - race cars, planes, etc. MF will not refocus should someone step in your sight plain. Drawbacks include only having a 16x lens, and it uses a CCD sensor which limits video capture to HD (720p). Overall I like the camera. It does what I want it to do. Canon discontinued manufacturing the camera several year ago, but if you find a used one in good condition at a reasonable price -- check it out.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

The image was noticeably worse than the camera it was replacing. It took a very long time before you could take the next photo. It needed a separate battery to retain the date and time which was dead on delivery. It's only advantage that I could see was that it took easily obtainable 2 AA battery's. Canon SX160 IS Camera
I forgot and left my identical camera on an Alaska flight, so jumped at the chance to purchase this camera with carrying case. I gave it 4 stars as my old camera and this one doesn't see to keep the time/date stamp. This could be caused by a small, round battery no longer carrying a charge. Camera takes very nice pictures and uses inexpensive AA batteries that last a very loong time. If you see a similar camera - buy it. Replaced the same model
I like this camera for its small size and good image quality. I carry it when my SLR is too big to pack or too big to carry on a day trip. It fits in my pants pocket. My first SX160 IS would not longer remember the date when turned off, even after I replaces the battery. I decided to buy a used SX160 because I could not find a new camera of comparable quality that would run on AA batteries. Super easy. Exceptional quality pics for the $.
I take pics all of cars and car parts all day-some broken and some in amazing condition. And I go to some pretty remote areas at times. Since it works on AAs I don't ever have to worry about a battery charger or a power outlet. The 16x zoom is the key on this one. I have taken a pic of a carnival wheel from over ten miles(and it is a little fuzzy from that distance but you can tell what it is) and I can get less than 1/2" from that destroyed rod bearing to show the damage.
