Love Canon G Series
This is the fourth camera I have owned in the G series. I started with the G2 and stepped through the 6 and 10. The flexibility of this camera rivals my 7d II without the bulk and intimidation factor. I love having this in my pocket when visiting kids. They will act up for the big camera but give you a much more natural result when you can be more discreet This is an ideal travel camera. Invest in a G16 instead of a G15
I'm an amateur photographer but have had to extensively use a camera in my professional work for scientific applications. Thus I have considerable experience with cameras & photography. I own & use the Canon G12 (personal use) because I sometimes like an optical viewfinder and a tilting/rotating screen. I decided to purchase a used G15 to see if it were much different than both the Canon G12 and G16. The G15 for general use is too little different from the G12 (Note I didn't say much different in all features, etc, just typical use.), plus the screen is fixed, for my recommending its purchase. Canon G15 For casual photography
I use Nikon D800 and Fuji mirrorless systems for the majority of my photography and needed something small but capable to take with me for just kicking around. I wanted something I could hand my wife or a friend without having to conduct an impromptu mini photography course. This little guy does the trick. The images are more than acceptable for social media and small prints and the camera is easy enough to for a novice. Top Quality Low Aperture Digital Camera
The features of this inexpensive camera make it totally worth the money. The f stop of 1.8 is the strongest selling point, allowing the user to make full use of the natural light in the surroundings. This makes for great picture taking, even in back lit or low light situations. To get a better point and shoot camera, one must spend $700 or more. I have attached some photos.

The Best of Canon's "G" Series - To date
I have owned a Canon G9 & G11 previous to this G15. There is a world of difference, primarily in the quality of the photo and in the digital enhancements. While it is a point-and-shoot, it is fully a professional camera. The sensor is large and sensitive. The electronics are low noise. This is the first point-and-shoot I have been able to take photos in very low light situations without flash and no have them full of color noise. The camera shoots RAW in all modes including AUTO. It takes videos. And it has very good battery life. It is also a bit smaller and fits in a shirt pocket. All of this makes it a good camera for vacations, parties, events, and other situations where you don't have a lot of time to capture the shot. The only negative: the LCD display is not on a swivel.
