The FT 450D is a great basic transceiver for general HF radio. There are many features that will allow you to get up and running without an overly expensive investment. Many transmission types are available from voice to multiple digital modes. Delivery time from 2Way Radio Express is very prompt with no problems. A radio that has lost it's memory 8 times up to now ( 500 memories!) ..afraid to turn it on anymore. has to be reset after each failure .. Love the radio's receiver and great output ...Sad , but was not told about it's problem and to late to contact seller ! Dissapointed with this purchase . Great portable radio for intermediate Hams
Yaesu did a great job on the FT-450D. The dimensions are quite small which makes this model very portal. Excellent for field exercises like Parks On The Air, Field Day, etc. The controls are well designed to match the smallish front panel size. Menus are not too deep. New hams may find the large quantity of features confusing, but default settings are good for most. The DSP is easy to use. Despite a little lower quality DSP audio than more expensive units the DSP does an excellent job at this price point and does a great job of improving copy ability.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Inexpensive starter HF rig.
Great starter HF radio. I was on the air in no time. I prefer a manual tuner, but selling the automatic tuner offset the cost significantly.
