About this product

Product Information

Writer/director Chris Butler puts his experience working on CORALINE and TIM BURTON'S THE CORPSE BRIDE to good use in this charmingly morbid tale of an eccentric young hero facing supernatural forces that would make most grown-ups cower in fear. Eleven-year-old Norman Babcock (voice of Kodi Smit-McPhee) is a young misfit with a remarkable gift: He sees dead people. Although Norman's clairvoyance allows him the unique opportunity to enjoy the company of his beloved grandmother (Elaine Stritch) long after she has ceased to be, it also drives his frustrated father Perry (Jeff Garlin) and popularity-obsessed sister Courtney (Anna Kendrick) up the wall at home and makes him the target of dim-witted bully Alvin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) at school. His only friend is portly Neil (Tucker Albrizzi), who isn't exactly a beacon of coolness. When Norman's deceased uncle Prenderghast (John Goodman), a local pariah, warns the young boy that he must save their small town of Blithe Hollow from a witch's curse that has plagued the area for centuries, the young creature-feature addict isn't entirely sure how to respond -- that is, until the sky turns red, the clouds start to swirl, and the dead rise up from their graves. Now, as a terrified mob takes to the streets with torches in hand, it's up to Norman, Courtney, Alvin, Neil, and Neil's older brother Mitch (Casey Affleck) to put things right, even if it means confronting the 300-year-old curse that has haunted Blithe Hollow ever since the notorious witch hunts of the 18th century.

  • ParaNorman is absolutely charming

Apparently this little boy can see and hear the Dead. And somehow from 1662 this group of people now hang on to yourself cuz this is a little bit more but I felt, actually put this little girl to death because they feel she's evil and a witch because they didn't know any better which is the truth these people really didn't know any better they followed us here from England and they were called Christians. Ring a bell? Well, they're the ones that hung Jesus Christ on the cross with the help of the syrians the help of the insistence of the Jews, the Germans oh yes they were there too and the Italians who actually carried out the crucifixion of Jesus christ. Now there's your lesson on Christianity if you didn't know that then you're a moron you're an idiot and nobody cares what you think so shut up and sit down. Now back to the film, this little girl haunts this town every year or so so Norman being able to talk to the Dead comes into contact with these witch hunters who come back from the dead on Halloween night and he has to contact the little girl and read her a story from a book which tells the truth of her life and what happened to her cuz she's unwilling or unable to see the truth or face the truth of what happened and he tries to make a connection with her and make her human again so that he can explain what happened to her and she can see that she was more than this ghostly haunt that hated people because of what was done to her. So all ends well in the end but it's funny it has a lot of characters I'm sure we've all seen in life one place or another and I believe that it's worth watching and it's okay for children to watch we try to shelter our kids from everything in life until they actually all grow up to be victims that's where victims came from the 30s 40s 50s and 60s when children were taught all the pretty things about life and there was a rapist and sex offender on every corner that mother didn't want to talk about till we married them and found out they raped our and used our children. Okay that's awesome but I like to interject in America's reality cuz if there's one thing Americans hate that is reality or being held responsible for anything they do. We're taught from 25 years of Facebook Google and Twitter to find the truth and then deny it that is America political correctness which is really white corporations version of the truth. This is a good film it's nice animation and I think you should absolutely buy it for your kids and I think if you wanted those people that sometimes like animation cuz you did since you were a child, I think you'll enjoy this film. I especially enjoyed the grandmother who's passed away and yet still talking to Norman sitting on this Earth and knitting, played by Elaine Stritch? I just loved her voice and loved her brassiness and boldness there's not another one like her but she was very funny may she rest in peace.
