Very poor quality item, especially for such a good brand name.
Volume too low, whole unit feels like cheap plastic, is difficult to see various function buttons, uses a lot of battery power. Very, very poor product, not up to Philip standard of workmanship. I am trying to get my money back on it as quality is just so poor.
The sound quality was mediocre in comparison to a competitor. As for value, I was satisfied to pay what I did but I would not have wished to pay the prices asked by other suppliers. I feel the design leaves a lot to be desired. All controls and LED display are on the side and you have to squat down to read them [Image 4], or better still, pick the unit up. [Image-1 shows unit as viewed when standing to operate.] Being black it is even harder to discern the labelling [Image-2] of the controls which are located on the side as it curves towards the underneath of the player [Image-3]. It is also very hard to read the battery alignment. It would seem the design was focused more on economics of manufacture rather than customer use. For a Philips product I found the player disappointing.
For a reasonable price, this portable CD player plays all of my CDs without skipping. Make sure you have some good quality headphones and it will sound even better!
