Still fun after all these years
I didn't play this game back in the day, but my nephew has been playing my old games and loves Spider-man. Thought I would surprise him with something "new" and it worked. Amazing arachnid appeals to ancient affectations.
This game is just as challenging as I remember from the '90s. Fun mechanics that really try to capture the essence of Spider-Man in a 2-D world. It's very indicative of the time it was made (the switch from the NES/Megadrive style of gameplay into the beginnings of the first Console Wars) but retains its charm and appeal for those gamers looking to the past for historic or character branding reasons. It is a great early attempt at digitizing Spidey that would be amplified during the reign of 16-bit gaming with games like Maximum Carnage.
