This DVD is a total and utter waste of time and money; it is by far the least informative and least entertaining of all Ryder Cup Films I have seen. It consists largely of a disjointed series of puts, the odd holed-out chip, and an endless stream of slow-motion shots of player's faces, faces in the crowd, faces of captains and WAGs, even faces of camera operators in slow-mo... at the expense of showing actual GOLF being played. Very few tee shots are shown (mostly from the same 3 holes), there is a total absence of driver shots, only a couple of long fairway shots involving woods are shown, and I saw no recovery shots out of the deep hay.
There is next to nothing to give any kind of impression or feel of the golf course and layout of the individual holes, the narrow fairways and deep rough which characterised the course setup, apart from a brief discussion of holes 15 - 18 with Jamie Donaldson and Tom Lehman in "Behind the scenes" - and here, the audio mix is so bad that their voices are drowned out by the accompanying music (and I use the term music with great hesitation: it's the sort of ultra basic and repetitive electronic keyboard jingle that YouTubers play while showing themselves unpacking some gizmo or other. Turns your brain into cheese.) Speaking of "behind the scenes", the "Incredible footage" promised on the cover includes such priceless gems as Thomas Bjorn and Jim Furyk visiting a primary school where the kids got to wave European and American flags, and no fewer than 4 sections on the grandstand behind the first tee... Wow, such insights! No in-depth interviews with players, captains, or groundstaff of course - can't overload the punters with actual information, can we?
The whole thing feels like a cheap and quick cut and paste from a daily highlights reel of the sports section of some generic TV evening news; I am not sure whether the editors even had access to the full film footage - if they did, they hid it rather successfully! I find it hard to believe that this is an genuine product by Ryder Cup Ltd, PGA of America and European PGA. It's an absolute disgrace!
