I would like to start by noting I am a Telecommunications Network Specialist, and previous Satellite Communication Technician.
I will be comparing my previous access point the Ubiquiti AP Pro vs the new TP-Link AC 1350.
I was introduced to the Ubiquity access points (APs) a while back and they worked great. So when the new APs were released with AC I found that they are a bit pricey, which lead me to finding this TP-Link 1350AC AP.
At less than half the price (retail) I noticed great coverage and more power - this is a result of the AC technology and newer hardware.
Setup was really easy using the web controller. I configured the AP with the same settings as my previous one, and all my smart home devices connected immediately without fail. There is a free software controller download available, though I have not installed it.
Without a controller, as long as you are on your home network you can use the Omada app to manage your device. I have not played around with it much but it is really intuitive.
Overall I would definitely recommend this product. If you are not getting the home WiFi coverage or speeds out of your old router (or modem router combo) you can just turn off the WiFi on the old router and setup one of these APs for better coverage.
Entry level enterprise gear for the the home network. Works awesome with the omada controller software running in a docker container. Using a POE switch to power these mounted these in the ceiling. All my devices roam to the best signal and I am using VLANs to configure a guest network.
