    Extremely comfortable

I have carpal tunnel syndrome and arthritis in both hands. I work on computers all day with graphics intense programs. I stockpiled a bunch of Microsoft Explorer Trackballs (formerly the best trackball I had ever used) after they discontinued them, but the Elecom Huge trackballs are just as comfortable - maybe even better since they have built-in memory foam wrist rests. I have been using my first Huge all the time since receiving it. I love the built in DPI adjuster for precision. I used the Elecom Mouse Assistant (downloadable following the included instructions) to reprogram one of the buttons. I'm planning to replace the trackballs on all my computers with Elecom Huges.

Nice BIG trackball but NO software!!

It's a nice big trackball, prefect if you've got a bit of a hand problem like arthritis. Well made, very big but that's an advantage. The BIG problem that I have is that there is no software available for Win7 and I'm not sure there is any for the more recent versions of Windows. This makes all but two of the buttons useless. The scroll wheel, being near the thumb works well and is very conveniently placed. Just wish I could assign a function to all the buttons. Because my hand function is compromised, I have difficulty hitting the "left" or "right" click button. I'd make all the buttons on the thumb side into a "left" click and all the buttons on the opposite side into a "right" click. NEED THAT SOFTWARE!!!

  • Great trackball! Better than any mouse in my case, and very programmable.

I'm impressed! I still have a Microsoft Trackball Explorer I bought at a 'Office Everything' store. That thing was remarkable, fit me like another hand. It's had its day, still works, badly… Now that I'm old with arthritis and nerve problems, mousii are hard to use accurately. So I thought of fixing the old MS ball. I found a used one with a bad button, but at looking for it, I saw these Elecom Huge balls. Had to try it! This is so close to being as good as the MS ball as can be, and has much better features! I guess there are 8 buttons, plus the scroll wheel does 5 programmable things, it seems. The MS ball has 4 buttons and a regular scroll wheel. I rearranged the buttons just a little for my hand, and it felt perfectly natural in less than 10 minutes. Same as the MS ball. Since the first and/or second finger rolls the ball, my movements are smooth, and my painful thumb (?) feels great on the buttons. Yes, it is literally Huge, takes up more space than a mouse, weighs more too. Thing is, it just sits where you like it, in one place, and mouse pads are null. The actual ball is larger than others, too. It is more accurate, I think. The only drawbacks for me are the shape, for one. Not a big deal at all, but the back end where the bottom of my palm rests, drops off for about a half inch. If it smoothly tapered off to desk level I would find it more comfortable. I don't notice it when I'm working with it, much at all. The only other problem is there is no model for lefties. Means nothing to me, but I'm an all-inclusive kind of guy! This Huge is wonderful! The website and software challenge your thinkum-dinkum a bit. It's all in Japanese, but my browser translates it enough to understand what to do. The software has an English version, it's odd the way it switches over, but I had no trouble. All in all, I just hope it lasts forever, or as long as the MS one! Love it!

  • A more than satisfactory purchase

I do a lot of gaming and after using a Logitech Marble Mouse and a Kensington Orbit, and being disappointed in the short lifespan of the cheap micro-switches used by both companies (Logitech generally lasts about a year and Kensington only lasted about 6 months), I'm looking forward to a much longer lifespan of the Elecom M-HT1URBK, since Elecom uses Omron switches. It did take a little getting used to, since it is designed differently than either of the previous mentioned mouses - and is considerably bigger, but that's to be expected. Now that I'm used to it, I really like it. I especially like the 8 programmable buttons. Customizing the mouse, using the Elecom Mouse Assistant, to what I like really makes a difference, especially with game playing. This mouse was about double the price of the Kensington and about 2 1/2 times the price of the Logitech, but if it lives up to my expectations it will be more than worth it. Only time will tell though.

  • It is an excellent trackball, very complete and of excellent quality. The price is very competitive.

For years I have used several of the Logitech brand, but after experiencing problems in the big toe by the lateral position of the ball (Marble & M570), I decided to try another with the ball in top position.   The construction and materials are of high quality. In my opinion you only need to use a longer cable and protected with a cord (there is also a wireless version). I have only a slight doubt about the long-term durability of the rubber under the palm after years of use. Ergonomically fits well to the hand and the keys have a very good feel. Perhaps he would have designed something less flat, with a tendency that more respect the alignment of the arm to help prevent problems with the carpal tunnel. The position of the wheel is too far behind for my taste and I would have placed it forward to be able to control it with the tip of the big toe. The forward and backward buttons next to the ball are also too far behind and force the index finger to push a little, although it is not a problem. It is huge compared to others in the market, so you do not get to grab it by hand and it stays in a somewhat floating position. However, in my case I buy it mainly thinking about gamming (many configurable buttons) but after a few days of use I think it is not the most successful and I do not know if I get used to it to play. It is extremely sensitive (can be configured). You can download a very complete configuration software although at the moment I have not managed to make the extra key assignment work well with the games. Surely it is much more suitable for working other software.

  • Great Product!

I greatly prefer a trackball to a mouse, since it takes less effort and takes up less room on my desk. I prefer corded, so I never need to replace batteries. This is a great replacement for my old Logitech trackball that I loved, but whose left button has finally failed. This has all the features of my old Logitech, plus more that I haven't used yet.

  • Finaly a succesor for the Microslot trackball explorer!

Finaly a succesor for the Microslot trackball explorer! As the trackball had to be upgraded from stst balls to (in my case aluoxide) the result was that the spinning sort of dissapeared. So flipping the ball did not result in spinning. This elecom does the same - it hardly spins. To compensate, it has a setting switch for this - which for me now is still on low. Bought the wired and wireless version, both work nice and predictable. Again, as good as the trackball was for ergonomics, this one equals - might be a little better due to the gel pad alike support pad. It is very large. Downside? That is up to you.

  • Here is your MS Trackball Explorer replacement

If you are a die-hard trackball explorer fan, looking for years for a replacement, this is it. I went with the wired version, plugged it in and started it using it. Just slightly different from the trackball explorer, but nothing I won't get use to. There are probably a lot of configurable options that I haven't even bothered to look at, I just wanted to replace my dieing travel explorer with as seamless as possible switch to a new device; this device meet that goal.

  • Quality product but just not ergomomic

Everything about this product, with one exception, is high-quality: nice big ball, rolls smoothly; nice padding at the base of the unit. But the exception is the most important thing: the unit’s basic design is just not on target. It’s not at all ergonomic for my hand — hard to see how it would be for anything except very small hands. Very puzzling. My old Microsoft Trackball Explorer (TBE) fits the hand well, provides support where you need it, allows a more neutral hand position (no need to torque the wrist to make the plane of the hand flat). But the M-HT1URBK is like a TBE that has been deflated, and then bent to the left. No hump to support the palm — the unit is actually concave at that point. My thumb is left hanging off to the left with nothing to rest against; to do a left click requires poking at the clicker with my thumb. The M-HT1URBK lies flat, requiring wrist torque. I was hoping this would be a close-enough equivalent to the TBE, but unfortunately it is not

  • Replaced my gaming mouse!

This is my second trackball mouse, and holy hell is it amazing! Comfortable, and lightweight software that has a bunch of features. If you are thinking about buying this trackball, absolutely do it. Arrived fast from Japan to Australiaa. Was a little apprehensive about the price, but it's still worth it!
