    B S ignition coil [magneto }

    I got one weak spark, then I had to get the little ignition condenser, which when checked against new to old the same readings came up for both condensers, but I used new and it started right off. Now it is easy to start. Harvey

  • Top critical review

    runs great

    i got in good time and installed it and the 30 year old briggs started right up. the only thing wrong was i it would not stop runing. i know what your all going to say is check the kill wirer. i checheck it from the switch to the coil. ran a jumper wire from the coil right to the engine and it still ran. so the same day i ordered a new coil and when i got it it works great. if anyone needs a brand new coil and let your engine run till it runs out of gas. i've got one you can have. Thanks wirerman bob

  • Model number was correct fit for my mower

    Works great. My mower was having a hard time starting and I had cleaned and adjusted my old one multiple times. Eventually, my old one would not longer give spark. This one was installed and started my mower on the first pull. First pull every time since I installed. Worked great when I mowed tall grass without stalling. The spark plug wire is extra long. Instead of cutting it, I just looped it for now. Thanks.

  • Highly recommended

    I have an old 7 or 8 hp Briggs on a log splitter and was having issues with ignition. I had replaced the points and condenser and still had issues, so I decided to start part swapping parts and give this coil a try. I must note, there were no instructions with the coil and I had no idea what the "new style" meant! The new style has the solid state ignition built in, which eliminates the points and condenser altogether!!!! I'm all about that! To install, you just take the old coil off, cut off the wire coming out of the points, bolt this one on, hook up the spark plug lead and go. The female spade terminal is for a kill switch. On my application, it is unnecessary because the motor has a thingy to ground out the spark plug. But if you ground this spade terminal I assume it kills the engine. I now have a nice hot and reliable spark. Quite proud of myself for running across this new style of coil. Never screw with points again! You may never have to take the flywheel off your motor again--you don't need to when installing this coil. Just cut off the wire coming out from behind the flywheel and move on.

  • Slight modification

    Had to put small bolt threw were air dam rivet was on OEM one, no big deal . Also had to shorten high tension lead for my motor which is simple to do. But comparing price for this compared to dealer price this is an excellent buy for the money would I buy another one, YOU BET I Would. Works great fired right up on first pull

  • gets the job done very well but ruins your hand

    It produces a good spark; however, occasionally, perhaps one out of 20 starts, it sparks to soon and the engine kicks back ripping the starter rope from your hand ruining your hand.

  • Replaced points/condenser with this

    Had a 8HP Briggs engine on a 1978 Toro snow blower with a defective coil that opened after 10 minutes running. Went online to find a replacement, found that an electronic coil could work. Cut the condenser/points and kill wires at the cover, replaced the coil, attached a new kill wire, and the engine started and ran! Had to shorten the spark plug wire about 6". The old condenser would likely fail or be suspect every 10 years, but it doesn't matter now.

  • Mower not starting?

    Inexpensive part and easy to install. Mower started up on the first (1/2) pull! I don't know how long it will last but the part seemed well built and solid. I highly recommend this inexpensive fix!
