Needs some design improvements.
The product is generally of good quality, but there are 2 design problems that need to be corrected: 1. The yellow "mail is here" flag is a nice feature, but the lifting linkage in the hinge needs to be much stronger. It will not last long. 2. If you mount it on a 6" wide board the opening for mounting it on a 4" board is left open. You have to make something to close it off or it will become a perfect home for wasps or bees.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Gibraltar Large-Size Black Plastic Mailbox With Mail-Has-Been-Delivered Notification Flag
Me and my husband are mostly pleased with this mailbox especially when it only cost approx thirty total. We liked the larger size so more mail can be put into it for those rainy or snowy days that we only go out to get the mail every few days and so the mail starts building up. We also like the notification flag which is a nice feature that we haven't seen on other mailboxes where by there is an additional yellow flag mounted on the lower front right section for letting you know when mail has been delivered...saves the homeowner from going out to check the mail when there isn't any in the mail box. The reasons we couldn't give 5-stars is because: 1) the red flag was kinda flimsy and could have EASILY been made a bit better. 2) the mail-has-been-delivered notification flag was a bit flimsy as well and the generic plastic molds barely catches each other to rotate the flag up. 3) and the door needed a little bit better latch since ours doesn't close with a nice tight 'snap' to it.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

I bought it bc someone smashed my original one which I liked a lot
So this is my second one bc I liked the first one so much. Of course, it would need to be made of 1/4" thick steel plate to stand up to a baseball bat. Plastic doesn't rust. It's more sturdy than thin chinese steel. I like the yellow flag, but my mailbox is too far away for us to see it. I'd buy this a third time if I need to. :-)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best mailbox I haver ever bought out of the two that I have bought.
I went from the traditional metal mailbox to this one. This mailbox has the superpower of being 10x larger without looking like it is larger. One time i went to check the mail and my brother climbed out of the box. I didn't even know he was coming. What a surprise. I would recommend this to anyone.
