    Nest Yale Lock

    The installation was not as easy as I thought it would be. The programming of the Nest lock was a little confusing, however the hardware was easy to install if you are familiar with door locks. Initially I had problems with the “Connect” device that communicates with the Yale lock. I had connection problems but was able to resolve the issue. On the other hand I had to call Google Nest Customer Support to figure out why the Nest Yale Lock was not accepting my reprogrammed password. The “key” was to reset the lock. The reset button is located inside the lock mechanism. I had to press the reset button while installing the double A battery in the battery compartment at the same time to successfully reset the lock. After I completed this procedure I was able to successfully reprogram my new security code. After all is said and done, I love the convenience of the lock. It operates via WiFi. If you also have a Nest Guard Alarm System you can sync your lock to the security system. Google commands can be coordinated with your Google display hub/home mini speaker. The only disadvantage with the system is that the voice verbal command to lock/unlock the door is not an operational function through your Google display hub or home mini speakers. You have to go to the Nest app to select to lock or unlock the door. Overall I am very pleased with the purchase. I got a heck of a deal and it was a factory sealed unit.

    Connectivity Problem

    Packaged well and installation went smoothly. However, the problem came when I had to connect the Nest Connect to the lock. I spent half of the day attempting to troubleshoot the issue. Chatted with 4 different specialists and was informed that the issue has been a problem for quite some time now. I finally reached a lead specialist who helped fix the issue. Apparently, I needed to use my phone as the hotspot and use my iPad to connect the nest connect. Only this way, was I able to connect the lock to the nest connect. It is working great now, but the issue was very disappointing and frustrating.

    Good addition to a smart home

    This is a good product if you're already invested in the Google Nest home ecosystem. Installation was relatively easy on a door precut to standard sizes, although it was a little hard to adjust the deadbolt to the shorter throw. Adding to my home network and Nest account took a little fiddling, but the end result is worth it. I love the coded entry, and locking the deadbolt by placing your hand on the pad and not needing to fumble with a key is very nice. Being able to say "hey Google, lock the door" is very convenient. I would always want to have a way to get in my house with a key, but I may put this lock on my main entry and exit doors.

    Great value and worth the effort to install.

    It is a great product, mostly easy to install if you read and follow directions. The only issue I have ever had, and I have two of these locks, is connecting the one connect box to the Nest app. Be patient, look online if you are having issues connecting the one connect box. I have had one for more than 5 years and has worked flawlessly. Also, the finish on the lock had lasted a long time, ours faces east and gets direct sun every day without fading or tarnishing. I highly recommend the Nest X with Nest connect X1.

    Works Great

    Easy to use - once you install (which can be tough). Whatever you think - my advice is to get a locksmith to drill and install. Looks easy and straight-forward. But, there are a lot of easy mistakes and can make it look bad. I think the toughest part was waiting for a locksmith to come and install the lock - you can do the NEST part easily.

    Smart and secure lock

    Received this smart lock in its original packaging. Everything looks brand new in the box. I initially had some challenges replacing the lock as it was my first time doing it. The deadbolt had some mechanical challenges where it would extend as easy as it should but eventually got it to work. The installation was completed and during the setup the chime connector gave a hard time communicating with wifi and the yale lock. After multiple ate pizza, i was finally able to complete the software setup and verified the operation of the lock. It works great. The only reason i had given 4/5 star is getting through this difficulty otherwise the product itself is 10/10.

    Makes Life Easier!

    This smart lock from Yale and Nest operates like a regular deadbolt but with the added bonus of being able to operate it from the Nest app on my phone or by entering a code on the keypad outside. I truly love not having to dig for my house keys any more after a long day at work. I can unlock the door while still at the end of the driveway (or from anywhere for that matter). I can let guests enter the house remotely if I don’t want to give them a code. It’s fantastic! Installation was very easy. I would rate this as easier to install than the traditional deadbolts I have installed elsewhere in my home. It’s a win!
