THIS EXTRACTOR WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!

We had a tub drain flange that had corroded to the point the cross bars had broken off and you could not get ahold of it to remove it. At that time I didn't know about a "tub drain extractor" so I called a few plumbers to get an estimate on having them remove it. One quote over the phone was $399.00 if it didn't take them more than an hour to do the job. The other one quoted $512.00 in a worse case scenario if they had to cut it out from underneath the tub and replace it! After the sticker shock wore off I got on YouTube, typed in "how to remove a stuck tub drain flange" and watched a guy using this handy gadget. I called a few plumbing supply stores to see if they had it. Only one carried it and their price was a whopping $120.00! My inner stubborn girl would not allow me to be robbed with that price tag so I ordered the extractor here and it arrived within a week. Once it arrived I discovered I did not have a large enough drill adaptor to fit in the slot on top of the extractor but found that my Lighted Lug Wrench handle for removing nuts to change a tire was the perfect size and the extended handle provided extra leverage to remove the old flange. Then we got to work removing the old flange and THIS EXTRACTOR WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!! It is solidly built and worth every penny!

    Partial recommendation

Probably could work well in many cases. Our drain had been in over 25 years and I was unable to put enough pressure on this tool to prevent it from slipping. Thus I was unable to remove drain. Ordered another device that expands with a 1 7/16 inch wrench. Not easy but it removed drain. So my recommendation is - it depends.

  • Amazing

I tried everything I could think of to remove my broken tub drain and also tried numerous ideas from others posted online. Don't waste your time and effort, buy this tool and within a couple of minutes that stubborn broken tub drain is where it belongs, in the garbage. Simple instructions, follow them exactly and you're done. Amazing tool!

  • Use with heat first

I broke the crossbars in a 35+ yr old tub drain using a removal tool specific - kind of expected that would happen. This tool was my plan B. I spent about 5 min beating and turning this easy-out tool to no avail, but remembered reading others used heat first - hot water for a few minutes or a hair dryer. I had a heat gun and gave the drain a a shot of high heat for a minute before trying to remove it again. Lo and behold! The old drain starting turning with almost no effort. Worth every penny!

  • Tub tool

The perfect tool to remove any rusted or deteriorated drain. Tried everything possible to remove my deteriorated drain with no success until I purchased this tool. The only tool you will ever need to tackle those stubborn rusted drains. Very well made and easy to use.

  • Perfect with alittle muscle

What u tube does not tell you is that once the Tub Extractor begins to turn the rusted out galvanized Tub Drain,it creates a new problem...it threads out the Tub Drain threads, and the old Tub Drain turns and turns but it won't come out,not even with pliers...now your forced to call a plumber which i did,got several quotes...it cost me $687.00...my advice is if it's galvanized, paint over it and wait until you remodel the whole bathroom if your going to spend that kind of money..but as far as the Tub Extractor,it today did its job.

  • Works great for old stuck drains

Perfect for getting out our old drain after the cross bars snapped off trying to get it out previously. Just needed to hammer the extractor in a little and apply some muscle with a vice grip adjustable wrench and it popped out! The extractor hardly looks worse for the wear.

  • Functional and cheaper than a plumber.

Great tool. I bought a new (to me) condo that had a shot, super stuck bathroom drain. This tool dislodged the stuck drain very well. Was hard to spend the money on a tool that I’ll probably never use again but it was much cheaper than hiring a professional.

  • Perfect for my stubborn bathtub drain

Would have been virtually impossible to have gotten out my very stubborn, corroded bathtub drain without this tool. I inserted it in the drain, gave it a few taps with my hammer and a few turns and out it came. 2 tub drains in less that 15 minutes. Extraction made easy!!

  • The Only Tub Tool To Use

First of all....shipping was super fast. Thank You!! Secondly, don't waste your time with another tool. I spent time Back and forth to the Orange and Blue Stores and nothing worked. This did. A tap of a hammer, a steady push on a 1/2" ratchet with my leg, and the 35 year old tub drain broke free effortlessly. Great tool! Great Investment!
