    Great Old School Sci Fi Action Movie!

    This actually didn't get great reviews when it came out. As usual reviewers don't review to inform rather to impress each other with snob appeal. No this isn't Dickens or a Tale of Two Cities. What it is is rockin pop corn fun with good acting and a good storyline. Plus it highlights the power of old school BATTLESHIPS with great effects and a soundtrack by AC DC. Ya got aliens with giant advance tech. You got a Battleship blasting away the BIG GUNS to the strains of "Shoot To Thrill" What more do ya want? Hanna Montana this ain't! What this is is a rockin' good time! Serious violence, great effects, good comedic breaks at times where the movie doesn't take itself too seriously and well... Liam Neeson as an Admiral. There ya go! Oh an intelligent alien mechanical flying buzzsaws that basically "pac man" everything in sight. This flick pulls NO punches.

    Buy it for the sound

    The only recommendation I have for this movie would be to buy it for sound effects. The sound effects will test any good speaker system, and then some. The other great item is the behind the scene goodies. They are better than the movie. This movie is pure escapism; it is loud; and it is absolutely fun to watch. The script may be trite but it is also not pretentious as if it were an Ingmar Bergman movie. Make some popcorn, crank up the sound, and enjoy.
