Easy to use
Sony HX50V is a very easy to use camera, but it also has many advanced features if you wish to use them. I like the weight, size and the high quality pictures it takes. I can easily carry the camera in a pants pocket, it has a fast startup time and very good vibration control for steady telephoto pictures.

Camera is a dud
It's ironic to be asked for a review on a camera i had to return because it's electronics were so seriously flawed that it was unable to even show an image on its view screen. It simply repeated the screen comment "turn off and then turn on again". (Doing this did not help.) I'm not unaware of how to use the camera. I actually had one just like it for more than three years, that I unfortunately broke. I wanted an exact replacement, but the model is no longer being made. Which means that any camera of this model that you buy is USED. And if it is used, there's a reason someone didn't want it any more. I didn't realize what a problem this would be until I received this camera. I will never buy a used model again.

Good zoom, a spare battery and excellent features.
The camera seems to work fine and great value for this quality of camera even if showing some signs of use. Tried it out during a couple of hikes under various conditions and so far happy with the results. Came with a case, spare battery but no charging cable. Fortunately I already have a charger so no problem.

ideal vacation camera
I take this camera when ever I am on vacation. I have a belt holder for the camera so I can move around easily and still whip it out to expose when ever I have the need. Wide to tele. Pop up flash with rear curtain for beautiful night shots and great fill flash during the day. At the tele end your talking about 700mm, thats plenty for me. Again, it's an all in one package and your traveling light. My only suggestion would be an extra battery and Sony quick charger. Keep your batteries charged and don't miss a shot.

Great Camera
This is my second Sony Cybershot DSC-HX50V camera. I had taken thousands of photos with my first one and loved the quality of the images, the fantastic zoom and compact size. One day the flash quit working and I took it to a local camera store to get it repaired and they advised that it would be cheaper to just purchase another one so I did. No regrets, this is a great camera.

A great small camera
I had a similar Sony that I loved, but this one is even smaller and has a better Zeiss lens and fits nicely in my jacket pocket. I took it a hunting trip and was able to get some really nice photos. I even took it to my grandson's basketball game and shot some nice video action. The battery seems to last a while. I also plan to use it along side my dslr for quick snapshots.
