  • For a 2nd gen - this Sandy Bridge is the one to get.

It's snappy and faster than many newer gen AMD 4 & 8-cores (I have a lot of them and ran performance tests). Out of all of the Sandy Bridge processors to get, ditch the rest and spend a few more bucks on something that's going to be much faster and still able to play modern games and run modern processor-heavy applications. Pair it up with at least 8GBs of RAM and an SSD and you will not be sorry. The only thing I would consider for anything faster would be a newer gen i5/i7 or Ryzen 8 core, which I honestly don't have a need for as they are far more expensive and may run operations faster, but is unnoticeable for most applications. In addition, LGA1155 motherboards are super cheap and offered by many manufacturers. By far, the Sandy Bridge i5 processors are some of the best bang for your buck in terms of performance computing.

  • Great product for a great price. 8)

Great price for a great product even though it is used. Today CPU chip in the market today are way, way ridiculously overpriced!!! You can probably get for around the same cost of a brand new retail mid or high end CPU chip, a brand new laptop or desktop for around the same cost of a high end brand new retail CPU chip (Now, that's outrageously insane!!!). For now on, I'm buying CPU chip here rather for retail prices.

  • Works as intended.

Processor works exactly as stated, didn't even need any additional software to get it working, like it was meant for my system. Upgrading from an i3 too made it run so much smoother.

  • Nice entry level quad core. Decent for productivity and light gaming

Got this cpu to replace an i3 3210 and it is much better. 4 core and 4 threads combined with 8gb ram and an SSD means I can do anything I want in a casual work load. Even 1080p gaming with low settings with the right video card can work. I'm using this in a pc connected to my tv for a media center. Streaming netflix, dvds etc.

  • Great Affordable Chip

The processor works great and was affordable. It is a great affordable chip if you have a supported motherboard. Sandy Bridge still works great all these years later and it often feels just as fast as my much faster system in basic tasks. There may be better options if you are building a budget system from scratch, but if you already have a supported motherboard, this is hard to beat.

  • Intel core i5, 2nd generation

I have an old pc Dell optiplex 990 with an i3 cpu. I ugrade it with an i5 and is working fine. Never had issues with a used intel processor.

  • Good old reliable CPU. SANDY BRIDGE IS STILL RELEVANT

This is a solid budget Gaming CPU. The only issue it’s getting hard to find MOBOs for them. But this CPU is still shinning on. If you have an old Board with a i3. Think about updating to an I5. Great $50 upgrade. Add some life to your old system.

  • Good for a light gaming system in 2019

I bought this processor as an upgrade for an old Dell Optiplex 390 with an i3 processor I bought for light gaming. It's way better than I expected. Some games are playable that weren't before, even with a lame video card and a 265W power supply. It's a pretty cheesy system, but it works for what I wanted.

  • Good, Fast, and Cheap. What more could you ask for.

Sandybridge i5's are still very peppy. Most people will be fine using a system with an i5-2400. Everyday tasks are a breeze and even some light to moderate gaming is possible.

  • Nice upgrade for OEM systems

It is amazing how cheap older processors are getting nowadays! I bought this to replace an i3-2120 in an aging Dell Inspiron desktop. You can really tell a difference in performance, especially if you have an SSD behind it!
