Deeply engaging true story
Beautiful, very moving story. If it was just a fictional story, I would say that the characters were so well written and so complex. But the story is true and therefore so much more fascinating and layered. Maud is truly amazing, played by the wonderful Sally Hawkins. Physically fragile, Maud is internally stronger than most. Her story is full of so many layers and so much deeply held emotion. And Everette is a difficult character too, who is also fascinating to watch go through his own changes and soften in very subtle ways.
