Still the best bang for buck headphones on the market.
Dollar for dollar, the best headphones available. Fantastic frequency response which actually improves as the headphones run in over their first few weeks of use. The open back SR850 have a huge sound stage making them great for gaming. They're a little tight on my head but the metal frame is easy to bend out a bit, making it possible to wear them for hours without any bother. Suitable for the consumer audiophile who wants a much better listening experience to pros who just want a set of flat, no nonsense reference heaphones I had a pair of SR 950 that one of my mates kids broke by using them as a flail, having had 7 years of perfect audio out of them I wanted another pair but couldn't source them fast enough. I'm not using my headphones in a situation where I have to worry about spill any more, so I thought I'd try the open back version. If I didn't like them I could buy the closed back ones as well and still have change out of $100. Let's just say I won't be needing to buy the closed back ones. You can't beat the sound of them for the price
For the money I'd challenge you to find anything better good in every range especially mids. I read Bass was not to punchy I had not problems maybe head bangers may like bit more i'm passed that .I have $300 headphones that only sound slightly better. Build quality is solid i do get a bit sore ears after wearing them for long periods 3 hours +. But overall great product.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best budget headphone with very good sound qualities
I did my research before buying. The Samson SR850 is a well known budget, open back headphone. I was tossing up between the Philips SHP9500 and the SR850. The SR850 was 1/3 of the price, therefore decided to go with it. My first set of studio headphones. I am only a beginner audiophile. I am, however, enjoying music a lot more with these headphones. I much prefer them to listening to music via speakers. You hear so much more detail. It allows you to hear songs in a new way. Your ears pick up on sounds and melodies you hadn't heard before. For me, it is an awesome product. And I've pretty much been using them everyday since I bought them. I also love using them for movies. They could be on your ears for hours and you wouldn't feel much discomfort. I do have fairly small ears however. The negatives are not much to consider. The cord is a little short; and the one I bought didn't come with the soft ear pads (but the ones on it are not bad either).Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Budget cans with premium performance.
For price vs performance these are great. Comparable to considerable pricier cans sound wise. Comfort is so so, more comfortable then similarly priced cans. Good sound, but cheap build quality and uncomfortably snug fit.
Good sound but OPEN back design that will cause spill when recording. Cheap build quality - don't think the cable or the muffs will last long. Uncomfortably snug fit - the wire head band compresses the head and becomes uncomfortable after a few hours.
