    High quality light weight zoom

This is a basic general purpose zoom lens. I like that it is 16mm at the wide end as that is 24 mm equivalent on my XM1. The lens mount is plastic and provides a snug fit. The auto focus works fine for my use. The lens is a featherweight so great for hiking and causal photo work. Happy with this purchase

    S-l-o-w focus on the X-E1

Good: Lightweight and sharp and cheap. Bad: Slow focusing on my X-E1 makes it unusable for sports or fast moving subjects. Relatively small maximum aperture makes it almost unusable for low-light shooting. This is a great lens for backpackers and landscape photographers. For others, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

  • Good starter lens

While the XC series is supposed to be more entry level than the XF series I have take some great pictures with this lens. It does not have a manual aperture ring, but you can control that with the camera. This lens has good contrast, sharp images, and responsive focusing. Although there are lenses more highly rated by the experts, I found this to be a versatile starter lens for starting out on the Fuji X cameras.

  • I don't know why people seem to put this lens down, my experience has been more than favourable at a very affordable price.

the images, were sharp, focus quick at wide angle and 50mm. the lens is light weight covering wide spectrum of focus range.

  • good value lightweight compact powered zoom lens

From a journeyman's point of view, assuming you want a powered zoom lens this one seems great for the money to me. My pictures and videos so far have turned out great, the two-speed zoom could be quieter but it's not too loud. In videos you can hear the motor some but it's not bad, and it also allows for dramatic smooth zoom in and outs on like faces while people talk while easily holding the camera stable which is fun. it also has a "manual"-ish ring you can use that allows you to zoom in steps, which can be useful if you want the exact same zoom, but it's a lot lurchier and a bit slower than an actual manual zoom. My only real caveat is if you're specifically looking for a zoom lens in the 16-50mm range that can zoom in and out completely silently and also really quickly get the non-powered version. This lens was also relatively cheap, and very light and small so it keeps your fuji pack small and light which makes it great for walking around a lot with and doing some street or cameo shots and videos (which is what I primarily use it for). I have a nikon d5300 as well and the size and weight difference between the two with a similar lens is quite noticeable.

  • Overlooked Cinderella.....

I have owned all three of the wide to standard mm zooms. The most expensive is the XF 16-55mm f2.8 ($1200) and is the largest, heaviest, best built of the three that produces wonderfully sharp images. If you absolutely must have a constant aperture, fast f2.8 this is your only option and it is a good one, but expensive. The lesser expensive XF ($500+/-) is the XF 18-55mm f2.8-4. Includes OIS and takes sharp images as well, though not as sharp wide open as the much more expensive XF 16-55mm. This XC 16-50mm (as cheap as $150 used) takes as sharp images as the XF18-55mm. You do give up a heftier build and a faster shutter, but the images are still beautifully sharp. If speed is not a must have, and you don't mind a plastic feeling build, but you do want crisp, sharp images, this will suit your need. It is the Cinderella in the cheaper gown that still looks great once you get past the covering. Great IQ, cheap build.

  • Amazing for the price

I’m a retired professional photographer who just shoots for fun now. But I’m still pretty picky about my equipment. I own two Fuji bodies, a small, lightweight XT-20, a medium size X-T2 and an assortment of 10 Fuji lenses, both primes and zooms. This little lens is amazing considering what it sells for. The image quality is quite good; it’s especially sharp at wide angle focal lengths across the entire frame, with good contrast. My copy is very nearly as good as my 18-55, and has the more versatile 16mm (24mm equivalent) wide angle. This lens makes a great lightweight combo with the X-T20. The build quality is “consumer grade,” but that shouldn’t be a problem for most people who take reasonable. The OIS is just OK and it’s not weather resistant. But, heck, it’s still an incredible value.

  • Fuji Kit XC 16-50mm zoom Lens

Cheap kit lens for Fuji...as all know, better than most kit lenses. Got if as companion to camera given to wife which came w/o a lens. Works fine....packaging was less than inspiring...came in a bag wrapped in bubble wrap. ...on the other hand it survived the travels OK...so speaks somewhat to durability. Works fine and is sharp enough. Bargain price for Fuji X lenses. No aperture rings on all XC lenses.

  • Great kit lens excellent wide angle to a fair portrait zoom. sharp and light weight

The lens is a great kit lens. produces sharp photos with excellent color rendition. One downside is the image stabilization at best is 2 stops not as good as I was expecting. Still overall it is a good buy for the price. It is a plastic construction but feels very durable. I would recommend this for a lightweight on the go lens with little to worry if it gets damaged.

  • Better than expected

After using this lens for a couple of months I can say the sharpness and contrast was better than expected for an kit lens. In image quality there is no difference between this lens and the more expensive XF 18-55mm F2.8-4.5 lens. The XF lens has 1 stop more and is metal, but that is it. Highly recommended lens.
