More than acceptable
The handset combination is more than enough for the average household. Functions are about the same as our old phones (Sony). Easy to use; contact list is a little small but sufficient; lighted keys are a nice feature and overall it's a good phone system for the money. One problem that I see is the volume in the handsets. I have them all the way up to be able to hear. Speaker volume is louder and sufficient. Hearing impaired users would have problems. Vtech Cordless Screen Font too small
I used to own an earlier Vtech model which I preferred over Panasonic models at the time for sleekness, ease of use, and price. The set was great and lasted a long time until some of the chargers stopped charging. This set model is similar except for one major unforeseen problem: screen font is way too small. The screen is not legible only when lit in the dark. Obviously, this is a very detrimental feature to a very good phone. What was Vtech thinking it decidrd to make the font so much smaller. Good tech for a reasonable price
While the thought of buying a phone with a built-in answering machine may seem antiquated, there are situations where it's the right answer. Having a parent who doesn't even have an internet connection is one of them. The thought of having their voice mail "out there" on somebody else's system is unthinkable, so a home answering machine it is. The range of these phones is more than adequate for the size of the house. Coverage is even good outside the house. Sound quality is good, and the price for a refurbished set was more than reasonable. The only negative comment I have is that the display technology is a little outdated. The viewing angle has to be just right to be able to read the info across the desk. As would be expected with older LCD displays, visibility outside is limited, but not horrible. somewhat disappointed
Works well, didn't want to set up messaging, but it did it automatically. The display is dark and can be hard to read. Had previous Vtech phones and they had a colored display.
