PS4 overhearing
PS4 was overheating and shutting down 1-3 after startup with no load on cpu, tear down revealed the paste on the cpu was non existent. PS4 was 5 years old so wasn’t surprised. Heat sink and fan were also cleaned as a precaution. Application was simple, used supplied spatula to clean old paste and reapplied new paste to chip. Not sure if my existing thermal compound was just really bad, but the difference this stuff made was night and day. I no longer even hear my CPU fan rev up, even under load. I have an old 11 year old PC. The thermal paste off the CPU dried off. Upon start up and after 5mins of doing nothing the CPU temp used to go up to 68 degrees Cel. After the Artic Thermal Paste it went all the way down to 50 Degree Cel after 5mins of doing nothing. This thermal compound is number three on the TOP10 list of compounds available in the world and because other two aren't sold in Australia - is your best bet! I have been using MX-4 for ages for graphics cards and CPUs and it is in a good shape even after five years of running 24/7 on my home server.
